Abstract: A golf club storage and protection device comprising an elongated member and a sensing device. The elongated member houses the golf club shaft and grip and protects the shaft and grip from wear and damage. The sensing device is housed within the elongated member and includes a motion sensor that senses movement of the elongated member beyond a motion threshold level, and an alarm. The sensing device contacts the grip when the gold club is present in the elongated member and the alarm is kept deactivated. When the golf club is removed from the elongated member for at least a predetermined time period and the elongated member is moved beyond the motion threshold level, the alarm will activate until either the golf club is returned to the elongated member or the device is turned off.

Abstract: A golf bag alarm provides notification of the lifting or moving of a golf bag, to the owner thereof who may be remotely located from the bag. The alarm includes a golf bag component which may be semi-permanently installed upon an existing golf bag, or permanently, integrally installed with a golf bag during bag manufacture. The golf bag component includes a weight actuated switch, an alarm transmitter, a receiver for remotely arming the alarm, and may also include an audio or visual alarm. The second component is carried by the golfer, and includes a transmitter for remotely arming and disarming the alarm system of the golf bag unit, a receiver for detecting an alarm signal from the golf bag unit, and an alarm. The system is valuable for the golfer who must leave his/her bag outside while visiting a golf clubhouse, course restaurant, etc.

Abstract: An orientation/time sensing alarm device is provided, which comprises an orientation sensor, a time sensor connecting to the orientation sensor, and an alarm connecting to the orientation sensor and the time sensor, forming a circuitry. The time sensor is activated by the orientation sensor when the orientation sensor senses the alarm device is above a predetermined orientational threshold. The alarm is activated when the time sensor senses the duration of activation of the time sensor being above a predetermined timing threshold. Also provided is a self-reminding golf club having an orientation/time sensing alarm device connected to the grip of the golf club for reminding a golfer of a misplaced golf club.

  • Patent number: 6411211
Abstract: The device of the present invention, positionable in or on a golf bag, monitors golf club location or presence. The device includes a marker mechanism, or tag, positionable on a golf club that imparts a unique identification to the club. The device also includes a sensing mechanism or sensing system that monitors the status of the clubs, including the presence, removal and return of the golf clubs. As each club includes a unique identifier, the sensing system can track the clubs by monitoring the sensors. The device also includes a readout mechanism that cooperates with the sensing system to provide information to the golfer regarding the status of their clubs.

  • Patent number: 6407667
Abstract: An alarm system is provided for alerting a golfer about a forgotten club. A divot tool incorporates a radio transmitter powered by a rechargeable power source for transmitting a coded transmission. A radio receiver tuned to receive the coded transmission includes logic circuitry that generates an alarm signal whenever power associated with the coded transmission drops below a threshold level. One or more alarm devices are coupled to the logic circuitry to generate alarm(s) when the alarm signal is supplied thereto. A power source is coupled to the radio receiver for supplying power thereto and for supplying a charging current for the rechargeable power source via an electrical coupling. When a golfer places a club or other accessory on the ground, the divot tool is placed near the club. As long as the golfer remains within a prescribed range, no alarm will be activated. However, if the golfer moves further from the divot tool than the prescribed range, an alarm is produced.

Abstract: An automatic golf club selecting device for selecting a certain golf club by verbally indicating which club is desired. The automatic golf club selecting device includes a plurality of lifting units for lifting a club. Each of the lifting unit comprises a selectively extendable cylindrical member. Each of the cylindrical members being mountable in a golf club bag. A motor designed for extending and retracting the cylindrical member is operationally coupled to one of the cylindrical members. A control circuitry designed for recognizing spoken golf club indicators is mountable to the golf club bag. The control circuitry is electrically coupled to each of the motors. A power supply is removably mountable in the golf club bag and is electrically coupled to the control circuitry. A microphone for receiving golf club indicators is mountable to the golf bag and is electrically coupled to the control circuitry. An actuator for turning the control circuitry on and off is mountable to the golf club bag.

  • Patent number: 6366205
Abstract: A device is provided for determining if one or more golf clubs are missing from a group of golf clubs. The device includes a transmitter or transceiver, that is, operative to direct a signal towards a group of golf clubs where each golf club is provided with a sensor tag. The signal from the transmitter registers with the respective sensor tags and in response thereto each sensor tag emits a response signal that is uniquely associated with the sensor tag and the golf club associated with the sensor tag. This response signal is directed back to the transceiver and the transceiver is in return coupled to a controller that receives information or data from the transceiver that identifies the detected golf clubs of the group. Based on the golf clubs detected, the controller can determine if one or more golf clubs are missing from the group.
