  • Patent number: 10028451
Abstract: In an embodiment, computer processes are programmed to determine planting plans based on planting characteristics data received for an agricultural field and a plurality of management zone delineation options defined for the agricultural field. Each of the planting plans specifies different planting recommendations for the agricultural field. A first graphical representation of the planting plans, and an interactive object is generated and displayed on a computing device. The interactive object is configured to receive input specifying a relative importance ratio between the planting plans for determining a new planting plan for the agricultural field. A particular relative importance ratio is received via the interactive object, and is used to determine the new planting plan, which specifies new planting recommendations for the agricultural field. Information about the new planting plan is displayed on the computer device.

Abstract: An atmospheric pressure sensor is disclosed which comprises an atmospheric pressure sensing element, a processing unit, and an interface unit. The atmospheric pressure sensing element is operable to measure the atmospheric pressure, and the processing unit is electrically coupled to the atmospheric pressure sensing element and is operable to read the measured atmospheric pressure from the atmospheric pressure sensing element. The processing unit is operable to generate a message if the measured atmospheric pressure meets one or more criteria. And the interface unit is electrically coupled to the processing unit and is operable to electrically receive the message from the processing unit and transmit the message to a receiving device.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a reminder application for creating and displaying weather-based reminders. The reminder application provides a set of tools to create a reminder and associate the reminder with a weather condition for a location. To present a weather-based reminder, the reminder application of some embodiments identifies a reminder associated with a weather condition for a location. The application then retrieves weather data for that location. After retrieving the weather data, the application then compares the weather data with the weather condition. When the weather data satisfies the weather condition, the application presents the reminder.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer readable media for providing real-time weather notifications to at least one communication device across various networks are described. Methods disclose receiving meteorological information or weather conditions corresponding to an affected geographical area. Methods disclose accessing a database for information concerning the at least one communication device. The affected geographical area identified in the national weather notification service is evaluated in relationship to a real-time location of the at least one communication device. A notification of weather conditions is generated. This notification of weather conditions is transmitted to at least one communication device.

Abstract: This patent discloses methods and systems for remotely requesting a flood zone determination from a mobile device such as a smart phone. The methods and systems use the GPS receiver in the mobile device to determine the exact latitude and longitude of the user's location, thus eliminating the need for geocoding, eliminating errors introduced by manual data entry, and eliminating the need for the time consuming manual determination processes required, for example, for non-standard-addressed locations and for structures located near a 100-year flood zone.

Abstract: A method of creating a projection of a situational network includes creating, by an event node server, an event node in a multi-dimensional personal information network, where the event node corresponds to a situation. A projection of nodes of the situational network is formed using geographic locations of a plurality of devices corresponding to nodes in the multi-dimensional personal information network. An invitation is transmitted to establish a link with the event node server to the devices corresponding to each node in the projection. A response is received from at least one of the devices accepting the invitation to establish a link with the event node server. A link with each device accepting the invitation is established.

Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting icing or incipient icing conditions external to a vehicle (100) are disclosed. An apparatus in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes a temperature sensor (120) configured to direct a first signal corresponding to a temperature of an airstream, and a water content sensor (130) configured to direct a second signal corresponding to a water content of the airstream. A processing unit (140) can receive the first and second signals and, based on at least the first and second signals, provide an indication (150) when at least the first and second signals taken together correspond to an at least incipient icing condition. Accordingly, the system can be installed on aircraft to provide notice to the crew of incipient or existing icing conditions.

Abstract: A measuring device for an aircraft is provided in order to determine physical properties of aerosol particles in real time. The device includes a heating device that separates volatile and solid aerosol particles, and a particle sensor that measures acquired data. The physical properties of the solid aerosol particles are determined with an analyzer. The determined analytical data is forwarded to other internal aircraft systems via a communication interface. Due to the formation of a measuring data or analytical data network with several airliners equipped with the measuring device, accurate and up-to-date information on the particle pollution, for example, along flight paths, can be obtained and used for defining no-fly zones, if so required.
