Abstract: A method and user interface for direct setting of black and white points. Black point is set using a slider and matching of gray shades. White point setting is performed by having a setting object move within a defined region, such as a square or circle, with the area where the setting object moves being adjusted dynamically based on the location of the setting object with respect to the defined region. When the area is the desired white, the setting is complete. Preferably the defined region has a varying color border to allow a reference for the user in moving the setting object. A more detailed setting of gray levels can be accomplished by providing a gray scale with reference points. Each reference point has an associated white point setting area, so that settings are developed for each reference point. Settings at other locations are determined by interpolation or extrapolation.

Abstract: An automatic load detection system. A first reference signal that may be known apriori can be used for load detection. For example, the first reference signal may be used for invisible portion of a frame. The DAC receives the first reference signal and outputs a signal that is based on the first reference signal. The output of the DAC may have two known values depending on whether the load is coupled to the DAC, e.g., by having a different impedance. Thus, the output signal may be used for detecting whether the load is uncoupled from the DAC. If it is determined that the load is uncoupled from the DAC, the clocking signal to the DAC may be turned off. Thus, DAC no longer consumes power when the load is uncoupled, thereby saving power.

The HP technique includes selecting a dominant hue (e.g., green, blue, red, etc.). The purity of the selected hue is then modified to include or remove wavelengths of light adjacent to the selected hue. For example, if the selected hue is green, gradually reducing the purity of the selected hue gradually increases the presence of cyan and amber in the output of the luminaire. As the purity is reduced further, additional wavelengths of light are included, but the output of the luminaire remains, in essence, green.

  • Patent number: 7686455
Abstract: Light in primary colors RGB modulated in a first modulation optical system is transmitted through a relay lens (36) and further divided into a P-polarized light and an S-polarized light by a PS separation wire grid (37). The S-polarized light is transmitted through a wavelength spectral filter (39) to select red/green/blue light components R1, G1, B1 of 615, 515, 450 nm in wavelength, which are then modulated by a Y1 device (44). The P-polarized light is transmitted through a wavelength spectral filter (46) to select red/green/blue light components R2, G2, B2 of 650, 550, 475 nm in wavelength, which are then modulated by a Y2 device (51). The 3 -primary color lights modulated by the Y1/Y2 devices (44), (51) are combined with each other at a PS composite wire grid (55) to project a synthetic light on a screen.
