  • Patent number: 7911409
Abstract: Systems and techniques to display an electronic document to multiple display devices simultaneously. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: identifying, by a software application in a computing system, display characteristics of multiple display devices, and generating, by the software application in the computing system, simultaneous independent views of an electronic document on the display devices by separately rendering the electronic document to each of the display devices based on the identified display characteristics of the device. A system can include one or more peripheral display devices, and a data processing system including a primary display device and a software application that generates simultaneous independent views of an electronic document on the display devices based on display characteristics of the display device as identified by the software application.

Abstract: Disclosed are an information processing apparatus and method, a recording medium and a program, by which an image can be fetched in a size appropriate to a user. An image of a subject picked up by a camera is displayed in a predetermined first range corresponding to a size designated in advance within a predetermined display region of an LCD unit which corresponds to an image pickup range of the camera, but the image of the subject picked up by the camera is not displayed in a surrounding range of the predetermined display region around the first range. If a shutter button is depressed in this state, then the image displayed in the first range is stored in the designated size into a memory. The present invention can be applied typically to a PDA, a mobile terminal, a portable telephone set, a desk-top personal computer or the like which has a function as a digital camera.

Abstract: A method of determining implied sample areas for each data point of each color in a source pixel data specified in a first sub-pixel format is used for sub-pixel rendering an image on a display specified in a second sub-pixel format. Each of the first and second sub-pixel formats comprises a plurality of colored sub-pixels. The method comprises determining a geometric center of each colored sub-pixel of the first format to define a sampling point; and defining each implied sample area by forming lines that are substantially equidistant between the sampling point of one colored sub-pixel and the sampling point of another neighboring same color colored sub-pixel. A similar technique may be used for determining resample areas for computing color values for rendering an image specified in a first sub-pixel format on a display substantially comprising a plurality of colored sub-pixels arranged in a second sub-pixel format.

Abstract: An image processing method for scaling an image from an original resolution to a target resolution is provided. A pixel value PT of a target pixel point NT in the target resolution is theoretically composed of original pixel values P1-PK of original pixel points N1-NK in the original resolution, wherein K is a positive integer larger than 1. First, theoretical combination ratios R1-RK corresponding to the original pixel points N1-NK are found. Then, the theoretical combination ratios R1-RK are converted to corresponding weights W1-WK, wherein each of the corresponding weights W1-WK is an integer between 1 and 2n, n is an integer, and the sum of the corresponding weights W1-WK is 2n. The original pixel values P1-PK are calculated with the corresponding weights W1-WK using a scaler, to generate the pixel value PT of the target pixel point NT and complete the image processing.

The logic unit connected to the pixel clock generator and the frequency divider is used for controlling the frequency divider to generate the character clock by dividing the number of cycles of the pixel clock during part of the predetermined interval by the first number and by dividing the number of cycles of the pixel clock during the remaining part of the predetermined interval by a second number.

  • Patent number: 7212174
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating application sharing in a networked environment is provided. Specifically, the system divides a display area on a host computer into a plurality of regions, with each region comprised of a predetermined number of current pixels. The system then evaluates current pixels within a selected region and compares them to corresponding pixels stored in memory. If the system determines that the value of the current pixel differs from the value of the stored corresponding pixel, all pixels within the region are sent to a receiving computer via a network. The receiving computer inserts the received region into a display such that it matches the display on the host computer from which the region originated.

  • Patent number: 7202848
Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display control device which can display pictures in a magnification mode by using only a memory having low-speed access and a low storage capacity. When a video signal has intermediate resolution or less, the enlargement processing is performed by a frame memory, a line memory and an enlargement processing control circuit. If the input operation and the output operation to and from the frame memory are synchronized with each other, it is sufficient for the frame memory to have a storage capacity of two lines. When the video signal has the same high resolution as a liquid crystal display panel, the video signal is output through a gate circuit to a display timing generating circuit, and it is displayed in a through mode. In this case, no processing is performed by the frame memory or the like.

  • Patent number: 7180531
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for enabling application program compatibility with display devices having an increased pixel density. According to one method, a call including one or more parameters is directed toward an application programming interface for performing a screen input or output function is received from an application program. In response to receiving the call, a determination is made as to whether the application program is configured for use with a display device having a lower pixel density or a display device having a higher pixel density. In response to determining that the application program is configured for use with a display device having a lower pixel density, the parameters are scaled for the higher pixel density display device and the application programming interface is called using the scaled parameters.

Abstract: A shift register circuit includes a plurality of latch circuits connected in series to sequentially transfer a pulse signal ST from one to another, a clock signal line transmitting a clock signal CLK, and a plurality of switching circuits performing electrical connection and disconnection between the clock signal line and the plurality of latch circuits. Upon turning on the shift register, at least one of the switching circuits electrically disconnects at least one of the latch circuits from the clock signal line. During an initialization period immediately after power has been turned on, the frequency of the clock signal CLK is lower than in a normal operation period and gradually increases toward the frequency used in the normal operation period.

Abstract: Electronically programmed signs consist of any array of picture elements (pixels) that can be controlled independently to create an image. Varying the intensity of each pixel and adding multiple colors per pixel will enhance the image quality. It is currently common to have displays that use one, two or three separate colors in a pixel (monochrome, red-green, and red, green and blue) with intensity levels of two, four, eight up to 256 and beyond. Multiple colored pixels can combine colors at various intensity levels to expand the displayable color palette.

  • Patent number: 7091967
Abstract: A source frame signal received at a first frame rate is converted to a destination frame signal output at a second frame rate. By adjusting the clock frequency of the clock signal in the destination frame signal, the second frame rate is made to be the same as the first frame rate. Adjusting the destination clock frequency prevents overflow and underflow conditions. The destination clock frequency is decreased to prevent underflow or increased to prevent overflow. The destination clock frequency during the last horizontal line is adjusted to comply with some display devices having a maximum time constraint from a last horizontal sync signal to a vertical sync signal in the destination frame signal.

Abstract: An input video image having an arbitrary resolution is converted to another video image having a predetermined resolution of a display device to display the video image with the converted resolution. The frequencies of the synchronizing signals of the input video signal are measured, and then a resolution of an input video signal is determined from the measured frequencies of the synchronizing signals. The video image represented by the input video signal is expanded or contracted, so as to make the resolution of the input video signal coincident with a resolution of the display device. A resulting video image with the converted resolution is displayed on the display device.
