Controller Automatically Senses Monitor Resolution Patents (Class 345/3.4)
  • Patent number: 7508355
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method applied on displays for recognizing video signal timing of analog input. The present invention employs the horizontal-synchronized-signal interrupt value to distinguish among its inputted video signal timing, allowing to recognize its pixel and correctly display its corresponding video signal timing even when the inputted signal timings share the same horizontal frequency, vertical frequency, and polarity. In case when the display is displaying incorrect video signal timing, the present invention also allows inputting a switch signal to adjust its display mode accordingly, enabling the display to show the correct resolution of the video signal timing under normal operation.

Abstract: A circuit and a method for maintaining the aspect ratio of images when there is a difference in format between image sources and display panels is provided. Lines are added in the vertical direction both at the top and at the bottom of the display panel in order to make the display panel have the same aspect ratio as the input image. A line enable signal is used to expand the vertical lines to maintain aspect ratio. Previously, the period of line enable signals could not be programmed to vary sufficiently to yield the necessary expansion to allow the aspect ratio of the display panel image to match the aspect ratio of the source image. This design allows the period of the line enable signal to vary enough to match all reasonable aspect ratios of input images.

Specifically, the system divides a display area on a host computer into a plurality of regions, with each region comprised of a predetermined number of current pixels. The system then evaluates current pixels within a selected region and compares them to corresponding pixels stored in memory. If the system determines that the value of the current pixel differs from the value of the stored corresponding pixel, all pixels within the region are sent to a receiving computer via a network. The receiving computer inserts the received region into a display such that it matches the display on the host computer from which the region originated.
