Reduction Only Patents (Class 345/670)
  • Patent number: 6816170
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that enable robust resizing of a simple polygon in a computationally inexpensive manner. A preferred embodiment is operable to handle various resizing events that may be encountered when resizing a simple polygon, such as self-intersection, edge-collapse, and edge-split events, in order to accurately generate the correct resized polygon. Further, a preferred embodiment is operable to compute a resulting resized polygon with efficiency of O(n log n), even if one or more of the above types of events is encountered during the resizing process. Embodiments of the present invention handle resizing events for simple polygons (both convex and non-convex) without requiring construction of the straight skeleton of the polygons being resized. Also, embodiments of the present invention are operable for resizing simple polygons that may include holes.

  • Patent number: 6751565
Abstract: Waveform data contains waveform signals having transition events and is subdivided into data blocks. Indexing elements are provided for each waveform signal that correspond to a time range of the waveform data, and have a pointer to a data block within which transition events for the waveform signal are stored. Each indexing element has a maximum interval value that indicates the maximum amount of time spanned between transition events of the waveform signal. A minimum time resolution that may be adequately resolved on the display is computed. For indexing elements having maximum interval values that exceed the minimum time resolution, the pointers of the indexing elements are used to access and draw transition events for the waveform signals. For indexing elements having maximum interval values that are less than the minimum time resolution, a predetermined image in place of transition events for the waveform signals is drawn.

  • Patent number: 6747668
Abstract: An image reducing device comprises a simple-averaging device that calculates a simple average of data of pixels of each simple-averaging area of original image data to acquire a pixel of middle image data, and a weighted-averaging device that multiplies data of pixels of the middle image data that are adjacent to a pixel of reduced image data by weight coefficients according to positions of the pixel of the reduced image data and the pixels of the middle image data to acquire the pixel of the reduce image data. In this method, the weighted-averaging is performed after the number of pixels are reduced by the simple-averaging, and this can obtain the reduced image of high quality without overloading the software and hardware. In addition, the edging can be easily performed at the same time as the weighted-averaging.

  • Publication number: 20040008213
Abstract: The storing of not only image content but information regarding what commands were used to create the image allows for well-informed decision making. The drawing commands are recorded and may be stored in a data structure. This data structure may then be accessed at the time of compression, and the selection of which compression technique to use may be based on the drawing commands. Thus, certain codecs may be applied to certain portions of the image, resulting in a more efficiently compressed image. Pixmaps are data structures holding pixel values corresponding to an image in memory. The data structure utilized here may be a separate RGB pixmap region associated with a pixmap holding image data. This permits the well-informed decision making to be accomplished even when pixmaps are copied to realized (onscreen) windows or other pixmaps.

Abstract: Repeating image content in a graphics image may be detected by identifying certain commands, known generally as “tile commands”. If a tile command is detected, the fact that a portion of an image was created with a tile command may be stored along with the portion of the image. This allows for well-informed decision making when transmission of the image is to be performed. For example, this allows for the transmission of a single tile, and subsequent transmission of local copy commands to repeat the single tile. This can be very useful in speeding transmission of background images or other repeating images.

  • Patent number: 6661420
Abstract: The present invention relates to a three-dimensional skeleton data compression apparatus for compressing a skeleton data amount without degrading rendering quality of a three-dimensional object. A weight detecting part detects weight information that is a numerical value obtained from input skeleton data, showing a degree of the influence of the movement of a skeleton on a vertex, and a weight compressing part deletes a value equal to or lower than a predetermined threshold value. The skeleton compressing part conducts first skeleton compression with respect to a skeleton having no polygon vertex in which an effective weight value is set. The skeleton compressing part also detects relative movement between skeletons, and second skeleton compression is performed to reduce/integrate a skeleton group integrated without relative movement into a unified skeleton. If required, masks are put on skeletons that are not to be subjected to skeleton compression.

Herein, a size conversion table storing display flags is created in accordance with a reduction ratio, wherein each of the display flags represents a decision whether to allow display with respect to each of horizontal lines. At first, the method discriminates whether the reduction ratio (R) belongs to a first range (0<R<½) or a second range (½≦R<1), while the method also discriminates whether each of horizontal lines belongs to an even-numbered field or an odd-numbered field within one frame.
