  • Patent number: 10538081
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an ink image, a transfer unit that transfers the ink image formed on a transfer member to a print medium in a transfer operation, and a liquid absorbing member that absorbs a liquid component from the ink image before the transfer operation. A recovery unit recovers absorption performance of the liquid absorbing member by applying a moisturizing liquid to the liquid absorbing member. A first estimation unit estimates, based on print data, an ink discharge amount of ink to form the ink image, and a second estimation unit estimates a liquid amount of the liquid component to be absorbed by the liquid absorbing member from the estimated ink discharge amount. In addition, a control unit controls an application amount of the moisturizing liquid by the recovery unit based on a result of estimation by the second estimation unit.

  • Patent number: 10509357
Abstract: At the time of an end of an image forming job (YES of S1), a controller causes a blade and a developing roller to be separated from a photosensitive drum (S2). At that time, the controller controls separation timing of the belt and the developing roller so that the developing roller is separated from the photosensitive drum before a surface position of the photosensitive drum contacted to the developing roller at a contact position at the time of a start of separation of the blade from the photosensitive drum reaches a developing position with the separation of the blade. According to this, even when a liquid accumulation reaches the developing position depending on the separation of the blade, the developing roller has already been separated from the photosensitive drum before the liquid accumulation reaches the developing position and therefore, the liquid accumulation is not collected by the developing roller.

  • Patent number: 10479114
Abstract: A vacuum table for a wide format printing system, wherein a medium support surface with vacuum holes therein is spaced apart from a bottom plate by a spacer array. The spacer array is formed by an integrally formed spacer structure with a first and a second longitudinal plate positioned between the bottom plate and the medium support surface. These plates comprise a plurality of air flow through-holes as well as a top support edge and a bottom support edge extending equidistantly to one another. A connection element connects the first longitudinal plates and is positioned between the bottom support plane and the top support plane. The use of longitudinal plates allows the spacer to be cheaply and easily produced by punching. The plates further offer the advantage of a low air flow resistance while maintaining a high rigidity of the spacer array.

  • Patent number: 10464769
Abstract: This invention provides web-cutting mechanism that can be mounted in line at an appropriate location between the web-handling peripheral (printer) and a web roll. The cutting mechanism operates before the available storage in the winder festoon has been exhausted, and decouples the roll's energy from the web. The cutting mechanism can employ a blade that is drawn through the web solely by the movement of the web itself. The blade is mounted at a (e.g.) 45-degree angle to web travel, causing it to be pulled through the web. A negator spring assembly and associated cable drives the blade into the side edge of the web when a slide-mounted blade shuttle assembly is released by a latching pawl of a solenoid assembly. The solenoid is triggered by a signal indicating an emergency stop condition, such as an upstream jam.
