Abstract: A method of adaptive overprinting of a first digital image over a pre-printed second image comprising at least one feature, the method comprising: capturing an image of a substrate pre-printed with said second image and with at least one registration mark; automatically computing: one or more offsets from intended pre-determined properties of the at least one registration mark; and one or more compensation adjustment values to be applied to properties of the at least one feature, based on said one or more computed offsets; applying said computed one or more compensation adjustment values to said first digital image to create a corrected digital image; and printing said corrected digital image over said second image.
Abstract: A printer is provided having a printhead assembly having a carrier frame, a pagewidth printhead with a corresponding pagewidth print zone defined by a plane adjacent the printhead assembly mounted at a base of the carrier frame, an approach guide mounted to the carrier frame on a first side of the printhead and an exit guide mounted to the carrier frame on a second side of the printhead, and a feed mechanism for continuously feeding a web of print media through the print zone. The web is unsupported in the print zone and is guided therethrough by the guides. The approach guide curves about the carrier frame base to terminate upstream with a leading angular edge abutting with the web such that the natural path of the web is deflected downwards and around the approach guide, and the exit guide curves about the carrier frame base to terminate downstream.

Abstract: In an inkjet printer, a feeding side tension applying means is provided with a feeding side tension adjustment mechanism, which is structured of a feeding side ballast arm that is extended toward a winding side tension applying means and vertically swingable around a rotation shaft perpendicular to a feeding direction of a printing medium and a feeding side ballast member that is attached to a tip end of the feeding side ballast arm, and a winding side tension applying means is provided with a winding side tension adjustment mechanism which is structured of a winding side ballast arm that is extended toward the feeding side tension applying means and vertically swingable around a rotation shaft perpendicular to the feeding direction of the printing medium “M” and a winding side ballast member that is attached to a tip end of the winding side ballast arm.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide materials and methods for a printer member used in ink-jet marking systems that can include a layer electrospun over an aluminum roller to facilitate transport of a printable substrate having ink images thereon and to reduce ink offset from the printable substrate.
Abstract: A wide format printer having an alternative print zone arrangement is provided. The printer comprises a printhead having a corresponding print zone, the print zone being defined by a plane adjacent the printhead, and a feed mechanism for continuously feeding a web of print media through the print zone. The printer is characterized in that the web is unsupported in the print zone, which obviates the need for a platen and advantageously maintains a constant distance between the printhead and the web.
