Abstract: A system includes a mounting assembly to mount a printhead to a frame having a length in a first direction and a width in a second direction. The mounting assembly includes a fixed component affixed to the frame and a movable component that can move relative to the fixed component. A first pair of flexures connects a first end of the fixed component to a first end of the movable component, and a first adjustment mechanism is positioned at the first end. A second pair of flexures connects a second end of the fixed component to a second end of the movable component, and a second adjustment mechanism is positioned at the second end. A connector couples the mounting assembly to the printhead such that movement of the movable component imparts movement to the printhead. Abstract: In a printing device for discharging ink from a plurality of print heads and printing on a print medium, the print heads are arrayed in a direction orthogonal to a movement direction relative to the print medium so that overlapping areas are created which overlap in the movement direction. A change rate of the apportionment ratio between a first nozzle row of an upstream print head in the relative movement direction of the print medium and of a second nozzle row and a downstream print head in the ends in the overlapping areas is greater than the change rate of the apportionment ratio in the middle in the overlapping areas. Concentration irregularity occurring in the overlapping areas of the printed article can thereby be made inconspicuous.

  • Patent number: 8408677
Abstract: Two arrays of ejection openings which eject relatively large amounts of ink are provided for each of different color inks and are disposed at symmetrical positions in the order of colors in a direction corresponding to a record scan. In addition, a single array of ejection openings which eject relatively small amounts of ink is disposed for at least one color ink. Since the symmetrical disposition in the color order of the ejection opening arrays which eject large amounts of ink prevents color unevenness from appearing even when the bidirectional recording is performed. Since the single array is formed of the ejection openings which eject small amount of ink, and which is used for highly precise recording, it is possible to avoid image deterioration due to the shift of dot formed positions, even when the recording head is mounted in an inclined manner attributable to the variation in manufacturing.

Droplets in the range of 120 pL to 200 pL have been found suitable for substrates with variability, in the third dimension, of up to approximately 4 cm. A larger droplet can be generated by utilizing a plurality of drive pulses, each of which generates a smaller droplet, and having the plurality of smaller droplets combine in mid-air. The data to be printed can be derived from a 3D model and such 3D model can also be used to guide shaping of the substrate. The 3D model can be produced from 2D image data. Abstract: The pagewidth inkjet printer provides for simultaneous printing across a horizontal portion of a sheet of paper, as opposed to horizontal scanning of a conventional inkjet printer. The pagewidth inkjet printer includes a platen for incrementally translating a page of paper and a controller for selectively driving rotation of the platen. A housing is mounted adjacent to the platen and is fixed with respect thereto. A plurality of print heads are mounted within the housing. Each print head has a plurality of nozzles for selectively ejecting ink, and each nozzle is adapted for ejecting a distinct color of ink. The plurality of nozzles of each print head are aligned in a direction parallel to a direction of translation of the page of paper. The plurality of print heads are arrayed and aligned linearly along a direction orthogonal to the direction of translation of the page of paper.

Abstract: The present invention relates to measures for preventing end deviation that may occur during high-duty printing such as one-pass printing, and in particular, to measures for preventing density unevenness (white stripes) in the case of ink with a low lightness such as black ink. According to the present invention, the amount of black ink ejected through the corresponding ejection ports is set to be larger than that of color ink ejected through the corresponding ejection ports. Two black ink ejection chips each having at least one black ink ejection port row are arranged on the respective sides of a color ink ejection chip.
