  • Patent number: 10887662
Abstract: Methods and systems for compression that maintains parameters related to uncompressed video (PRTUV) while changing video compression ratios on-the-fly. One embodiment of a system includes: A video transmitter that receives incoming high-definition uncompressed video (HD-UV) characterized by certain PRTUV. The video transmitter compresses the incoming HD-UV into a first compressed video of ratio between 1:1 and 5:1, and sends it over a communication link to a receiver that decompresses the video to an outgoing HD-UV. When the video transmitter receives a command to smoothly change on-the-fly the compression to a second compressed video of ratio between 2:1 and 10:1, it makes the change without interrupting the continuous flow of the incoming HD-UV. Wherein the outgoing HD-UV maintains the PRTUV before, during, and after the change from the first compressed video to the second compressed video.

  • Patent number: 10152830
Abstract: An athlete (1) measures sprint time by locating a smartphone (3) having a camera and crystal oscillator clock which is first activated at the finish line. The sprint end time is recorded by a photo stamp time app activated by a video trigger causing the smartphone (3) to send a RF stop event signal to the athlete's wrist mounted motion sensor (2). Before this a sensor timer or clock is started via the sprinter's start event. The sprinter's start activates the sensor's clock and saves the captured start time including time drift error. Upon the phone app selecting the run time function, a sync command sent to the sensor (2) by the app zeros out the phone and sensor timers. A one-time crystal calibration routine correcting for drift errors caused by the smartphone's operating system is activated which provides the sprint with a corrected start time.

  • Patent number: 8243093
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to creation, modification and implementation of dither pattern structures applied to an image to diminish contouring artifacts. Some aspects relate to dither pattern structures with pixel values in a first color channel pattern that are spatially dispersed from pixel values in a corresponding pattern in a second color channel. Some aspects relate to application. Some aspects relate to systems and apparatus for creation and application of these dither pattern structures comprising pixel values dispersed across color channels.

  • Patent number: 8036516
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus includes an information recording unit that generates reproduction range information indicating the range of image signals to be reproduced as moving picture and that records it on an optical disk. When representative images representing contents of the image signals recorded on the optical disk are displayed, the representative images are displayed as moving picture obtained by reproducing the image signals recorded on the optical disk based on the reproduction range information.

  • Patent number: 7965303
Abstract: In an image displaying apparatus including a motion compensated rate converting (FRC) portion, deterioration of image quality is prevented in an image having a high-speed region and a low-speed region mixed. The FRC portion includes a motion vector detecting portion 11e and an interpolation frame generating portion 12b. The motion vector detecting portion 11e includes a first region detecting means 112e1 that detects a first region (high-speed region) including a motion amount equal to or greater than a first predetermined amount from an input image signal, a second region detecting means 112e2 that detects a second region (low-speed region) including a motion amount equal to or less than a second predetermined amount from the input image signal, and a third region detecting means 113e that detects a still region from an inter-frame difference of the input image signal.

  • Patent number: 7806533
Abstract: An optical system comprises a first image capture device for capturing an image of an observation area, a first display device, a semi-reflecting plate, a concave mirror disposed facing the first display device, and a second display device for displaying a background image. A light beam is scattered by the first display device through the semi-reflecting plate and then reflected by the mirror and the semi-reflecting plate in order to display an aerial image between the semi-reflecting plate and the observation area. A projector projects a light beam toward one of the display devices. The first image capture device is adapted to capture the image of the observation area via said one display device. A alternating control device alternates capture of an image of the observation area by the first image capture device and projection of the light beam projected by the projector.
