Abstract: This invention has as its object to allow an authentication process that avoids unnecessary information from being stored in a digital camera irrespective of whether or not a digital camera connected to the printer has a direct print function. To this end, in this invention, in an early stage of connection between a digital camera DSC and PD printer, the PD printer side requests an object which contains a keyword as authentication information of those which are stored and held by the DSC (S29). As a result, after it is determined the returned information contains authentication information, the printer notifies the DSC of its own authentication information (S33).

Abstract: A system that includes a digital camera, a digital image processing unit, a printer, and a remote server. The digital camera wirelessly transmits a digital image to the digital image processing unit. The digital image processing unit, once it receives the digital image, can store the image locally on a hard disk and print the digital image. The digital image processing unit can also include a mobile internet card, thereby enabling it to connect directly to the internet to upload the stored digital images directly to a remote server without first needing to connect to a local network. Alternatively, the camera and the digital image processing unit can be one and the same, and transmit the digital image wirelessly to a printer, a remote server, or both. The settings and preferences of the system can also be updated automatically when it connects to a remote server.

Abstract: A portable camera with an inbuilt printer device is disclosed. The camera includes a digital image capture device, an inbuilt programming language interpreter internally connected to the digital image capture device for the manipulation of the digital image captured by the capture device and a script input means for inputting a self documenting program script for the manipulation and filtering of the captured digital image to produce visual alterations of the image. A card reader optically reads the script printed as an array of dots on one surface of a portable card, which has a visual example of the likely effect of the script on a second surface of the card. The script is interpreted and executed by the interpreter to modify the captured digital image in accordance with the script to produce a modified digital image. The modification is visually exemplified on the second surface of the card. The modified digital image is then printed out on the inbuilt printer device.
