  • Patent number: 11949987
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for the pre-processing of image data so as to enhance quality of subsequent encoding and rendering. In one embodiment, a capture device is disclosed that includes a processing apparatus and a non-transitory computer readable apparatus comprising a storage medium have one or more instructions stored thereon. The one or more instructions, when executed by the processing apparatus, are configured to: receive captured image data (such as that sourced from two or more separate image sensors) and pre-process the data to enable stabilization of the corresponding images prior to encoding. In some implementations, the pre-processing includes combination (e.g., stitching) of the captured image data associated with the two or more sensors to facilitates the stabilization. Advantageously, undesirable artifacts such as object “jitter” can be reduced or eliminated. Methods and non-transitory computer readable apparatus are also disclosed.

Abstract: A capacity of a frame memory is reduced in an apparatus that performs image processing using the frame memory. An image processing apparatus includes a cutout processing unit, a frame memory, and a synthesis processing unit. Each time an input frame is imaged by an imaging unit, the cutout processing unit cuts out a part of the input frame as a current cutout frame on the basis of motion of the imaging unit. The frame memory holds the current cutout frame as a past cutout frame. The synthesis processing unit synthesizes the current cutout frame and the past cutout frame, and outputs a result as a synthesis frame.

  • Patent number: 10893201
Abstract: A method and system are provided to perform electronic image stabilization of images captured by an image sensor on a camera device. In the method and system, non-linear motion of a camera device is measured with a motion sensor during an exposure time for each line of a frame captured by the image sensor of the camera device. A first line of the frame has a first exposure time, and subsequent lines of the frame have an exposure time that is later than a previous line of the frame, each line of the frame having an associated position in the frame. The position of each line of the frame is adjusted based, at least in part, on the measured non-linear motion to create a modified frame that corrects for non-linear motion that occurred for each line of the frame.
