Camera Characteristics Affecting Control (zoom Angle, Distance To Camera Time Delays, Weight, Etc.) Patents (Class 348/211.9)
  • Patent number: 8803988
Abstract: In a method of controlling an image capturing device using a computing device, sounds coming from a monitored area are detected in real-time using sound receivers that are electronically connected to the computing device. The detected sounds are analyzed using an acoustic source localization (ASL) device of the computing device to determine the direction of the apparent origin of the detected sounds in the monitored area. A command is sent to the image capturing device to view or focus on the origin of the sounds in the monitored area. The computing device controls a lens of the image capturing device to capture images of the source of the sounds in the monitored area.

Abstract: A system for controlling a rendering engine by using specialized commands. The commands are used to generate a production, such as a television show, at an end-user's computer that executes the rendering engine. In one embodiment, the commands are sent over a network, such as the Internet, to achieve broadcasts of video programs at very high compression and efficiency. Commands for setting and moving camera viewpoints, animating characters, and defining or controlling scenes and sounds are described. At a fine level of control math models and coordinate systems can be used make specifications. At a coarse level of control the command language approaches the text format traditionally used in television or movie scripts. Simple names for objects within a scene are used to identify items, directions and paths. Commands are further simplified by having the rendering engine use defaults when specifications are left out.

Abstract: There is provided a method, a system and a device for displaying an image corresponding to a first field of view to an operator of an image capturing device. The method comprises receiving input data relating to a change in at least one of a position, an orientation, or a scaling of the first field of view and determining, based on the input data, at least one of a position, an orientation or a scaling of the first field of view with respect to a second field of view which is larger than the first field of view. Further, the method comprises receiving an image captured by the image capturing device and determining an overlapping portion of the first field of view and the received image. An image to be displayed is then determined by using image data of the received image in the overlapping portion, and using image data of the second field of view in the non-overlapping portion. • Patent number: 8154616
Abstract: A data processing apparatus acquires images captured by cameras. A data processing apparatus 2 calculates relative positional relationship between the camera that captured an image and a camera that is captured in the captured image, by image recognition of the captured image. The data processing apparatus 2 aggregates positional relationships calculated for the captured images, respectively, and by having one camera as reference, calculates the relative positions and directions of other cameras. Based on the calculated results, a user interface for supporting selection of the captured image by a user is generated.

Abstract: A camera, controller, method and non-transitory computer readable storage device cooperate to control different portions of an area covered by a camera. Selective control is granted to different remote devices to establish respective portions of the area, so the respective portions of the image are sent to the remote devices making the request. Moreover, the camera has a digital pan, digital tilt, and digital zoom capability, which allows multiple portions of the image to be set by remote devices. When a limited number of remote devices are allowed to simultaneously control the portions of the area covered by the camera, then control is selectively transferred from one device to an awaiting device.
