  • Patent number: 8363971
Abstract: A composition unit generates a composite image by compositing a frame image of interest and a processed image obtained by applying minimum value filtering processing to the frame image of interest. An LPF processor generates a low frequency component image by applying low-pass filtering processing to the composite image. A difference detector generates a difference image between the frame image of interest and the low frequency component image, and an adder generates a high frequency component image by adding the difference image to the frame image of interest. The composition unit executes composition processing using a minimum composite ratio a so that all pixel values which configure a region in the high frequency component image corresponding to a steep edge region in the composite image are equal to or larger than zero.

  • Patent number: 8233529
Abstract: A video decoder is provided. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) converts an analog video signal into a plurality of samples at a sampling rate. A main processing path collects a plurality of odd samples to provide a first decoded video output and synchronization information. A plurality of even samples is converted into a plurality of first converted samples at a first predetermined frequency by a sample rate converter, and then filtered by a filter to obtain a second Y signal. A buffer stores the second Y signal, and reads the second Y signal in response to the timing information. An output sample rate converter converts the buffered output into a plurality of second converted samples at a second predetermined frequency. A parallel-to-serial converter receives the first decoded video output and the plurality of second converted samples to drive a second decoded video output.

Abstract: A stereoscopic image processing method capable of preventing occurrence of undesirable cutout of image when a stereoscopic combined image is printed out is provided. A stereoscopic combined image can be created and recorded using a digital still camera 1. This stereoscopic combined image is a single image formed by arranging a plurality of view-point images. At first, left view-point image data and right view-point image data are stored in a memory by performing photographing twice. Then, the data of the two images are arranged laterally into a single image. Through this processing, original stereoscopic combined image data is created. Padding areas (dummy areas) are added to the original stereoscopic combined image data at the upper and lower sides thereof. Namely, a processed image containing the original stereoscopic combined image is created.

Abstract: In a video signal processing device, a host CPU sets a number of parameters for a memory table at its low-load timing such as during power-up. The host CPU then enables the function of an automatic setting controller. Being notified of start of automatic setting, the automatic setting controller reads plural clock setting parameters from the memory table, and performs clock setting in a clock generation section while waiting for stabilization of PLL oscillation. The automatic setting control section then reads plural signal processing parameters from the memory table and sets the parameters in a video signal processing section. Thus, in operation of the video signal processing section and the clock generation section according to the format of the input video signal, it is possible to set a number of setting parameters in these sections while reducing the load of the host CPU, shortening the image output time.

Abstract: This aims at providing an image recording apparatus and an image recording method which can output an image suitable for an aspect ratio of a display screen. When connection history data does not fulfill a predetermined condition, predetermined viewpoint image data is selected as a representative image. On the other hand, when the connection history data fulfills the predetermined condition, image data of a plurality of viewpoints taken by the image pickup units are synthesized to generate panoramic image data horizontally wider than the image data of viewpoints, and the generated image data is set as representative image data. Then, the panoramic image file which includes image data of respective viewpoints as sub-image data as well as the representative image data, is generated in the multi-page format, and is recorded in the memory card.

Abstract: A digital television receiving system having a security mechanism which simultaneously handles two or more separate television program signals is described. The system includes a plurality of digital television receiver mechanisms for receiving a plurality of separate digital television program signal transport streams. The system also includes a multiplexer mechanism coupled to the digital television receiver mechanisms for tagging and multiplexing the received program signal transport streams into a single combined signal transport stream. The combined transport stream is supplied to a security mechanism which limits usable access to the combined stream to authorized users. The system further includes a demultiplexer mechanism for receiving an access-allowed combined transport stream from the security mechanism and demultiplexing the combined transport stream into separate transport streams corresponding to the separate transport streams received by the receiver mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 7477320
Abstract: A method and system for decoding and storing encoded control data delivered via the horizontal overscan area of a video signal. An interactive device such as a toy performs behavior defined by control data that can be encoded into a video signal. The toy is equipped with a decoder for extracting data from the horizontal overscan portion of the video signal, and a non-volatile memory that permits the control data to be stored for use after the video signal is no longer being received. The control data are delivered as a series of words that include genus codes and sequence codes. Genus codes identify the specific toy to which the word is directed, as more than one toy may receive the video signal. Error grading is used to minimize the effect of such signal deterioration, so the toy will replace previously received words if newer words are of higher quality.

  • Patent number: 7433424
Abstract: The present invention relates to signal receiving apparatus and method for efficiently transmitting a digital satellite broadcast signal received, and recording medium. A DSS broadcast signal from an antenna is subjected to station selection in a front end circuit, the scramble thereof is released in a descramble circuit, and further it is judged whether the broadcast signal concerned is an SD broadcast signal or HD broadcast signal. The SD signal is decoded in an MPEG decode circuit, converted to an NTSC signal in an NTSC encode circuit, and then output from a video cable. The HD signal is rearranged to a structure conformed with the ATSC system in a multiplexing editing circuit, encrypted in an encryption circuit and then output from an IEEE1394 interface.
