Abstract: A composition unit generates a composite image by compositing a frame image of interest and a processed image obtained by applying minimum value filtering processing to the frame image of interest. An LPF processor generates a low frequency component image by applying low-pass filtering processing to the composite image. A difference detector generates a difference image between the frame image of interest and the low frequency component image, and an adder generates a high frequency component image by adding the difference image to the frame image of interest. The composition unit executes composition processing using a minimum composite ratio a so that all pixel values which configure a region in the high frequency component image corresponding to a steep edge region in the composite image are equal to or larger than zero.

Abstract: A signal transmission apparatus includes: a horizontal rectangular area thinning-out control section; a line thinning-out control section that thins out pixel samples for every other line of each of first to t-th sub images, into which the pixel samples are mapped, so as to thereby produce interlaced signals; a word thinning-out control section that thins out the pixel samples, which are thinned out for every other line, for every word, and maps the pixel samples into video data areas of HD-SDIs prescribed in SMPTE 435-2; and a readout control section that outputs the HD-SDIs.
Abstract: A video decoder is provided. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) converts an analog video signal into a plurality of samples at a sampling rate. A main processing path collects a plurality of odd samples to provide a first decoded video output and synchronization information. A plurality of even samples is converted into a plurality of first converted samples at a first predetermined frequency by a sample rate converter, and then filtered by a filter to obtain a second Y signal. A buffer stores the second Y signal, and reads the second Y signal in response to the timing information. An output sample rate converter converts the buffered output into a plurality of second converted samples at a second predetermined frequency. A parallel-to-serial converter receives the first decoded video output and the plurality of second converted samples to drive a second decoded video output.
Abstract: A stereoscopic image processing method capable of preventing occurrence of undesirable cutout of image when a stereoscopic combined image is printed out is provided. A stereoscopic combined image can be created and recorded using a digital still camera 1. This stereoscopic combined image is a single image formed by arranging a plurality of view-point images. At first, left view-point image data and right view-point image data are stored in a memory by performing photographing twice. Then, the data of the two images are arranged laterally into a single image. Through this processing, original stereoscopic combined image data is created. Padding areas (dummy areas) are added to the original stereoscopic combined image data at the upper and lower sides thereof. Namely, a processed image containing the original stereoscopic combined image is created.

Abstract: According to the present invention, in converting an interlaced signal in 4:2:0 format into an interlaced signal in 4:2:2 format, diagonal correlation is detected using a luminance signal and color-difference signals are also interpolated diagonally based on a result of the detection. As a result, the quality of the image represented by the color-difference signals can be improved and the signal can be converted into the 4:2:2 format with the block noise of the color-difference signals, which could be produced in an MPEG decoded image in the 4:2:0 format, reduced.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for monitoring another video source in addition to a current video source. One method according to the present invention comprises outputting a first video signal provided from a first contents source (for example, a broadcasting channel) and displaying a video from a second video signal provided from a second contents source intermittently with a video from the first video signal on a single screen. During the displaying, a multi-view displaying operation, in which the video from the second video signal is displayed together with the video from the first video signal on the single screen for a first time period, and a single-view displaying operation, in which the video from the first video signal is displayed alone on the single screen for a second time period longer than the first time period, are repeated in an alternate manner.
Abstract: A multimedia communication device may be operable to divide each of created consecutive image frames into a first portion and a corresponding second portion. The first portion and the corresponding second portion for each of the consecutive image frames may be transmitted in a reversed order, via a wireless communication network, to a display device. Each of the divided plurality of consecutive image frames may be displayed on the display device in the transmitted reversed order. Each of the divided plurality of consecutive image frames may be displayed beginning with one of the transmitted first portion and ending with one of the transmitted corresponding second portion. The dividing of each of the created consecutive image frames may be determined based on user configuration of the multimedia communication device.
Abstract: In a video signal processing device, a host CPU sets a number of parameters for a memory table at its low-load timing such as during power-up. The host CPU then enables the function of an automatic setting controller. Being notified of start of automatic setting, the automatic setting controller reads plural clock setting parameters from the memory table, and performs clock setting in a clock generation section while waiting for stabilization of PLL oscillation. The automatic setting control section then reads plural signal processing parameters from the memory table and sets the parameters in a video signal processing section. Thus, in operation of the video signal processing section and the clock generation section according to the format of the input video signal, it is possible to set a number of setting parameters in these sections while reducing the load of the host CPU, shortening the image output time.

Abstract: An image shooting apparatus records video information obtained by shooting a subject, and transfers the video information to an external appliance by communication conforming to the HDMI standards. The image shooting apparatus also records rotation information representing how, when a video based on the video information is displayed on the external appliance, the video is to be rotated, and, when transferring the video information, transmits the rotation information to the external appliance by use of CEC conforming to the HDMI standards. Thus, an image shooting apparatus that transmits a shot video to an external appliance also transmits rotation information by use of CEC so as to be capable of making the external appliance display the shot image in a rotated state.

Abstract: In order to detect interlace errors in a video signal, one receives successive digitally coded frames, each frame comprising data for a field of a first type and data for a field of a second type (i.e. a top field and bottom field or vice versa). One then generates for each field of the first type:—a first difference signal (D1 F1) representative of the difference between the field and the second-type field of the previous frame;—a second difference signal (D1 F2) representative of the difference between the field and the second-type field of the same frame; and—a third difference signal (D1 F3) representative of the difference between the field and the second-type field of the following frame. Then, in dependence of the values of said difference signals, a decision signal (wOFlag) is generated indicating an estimated temporal relationship of the field to the second-type field of the same frame.

Abstract: A YUV format to be stored in a memory is selected from A or B by a format judging unit for RGB data that is the input output display data of a memory unit, based on the comparison between chrominance (U, V) difference information on horizontal two pixels and the threshold values of U difference and V difference to be resistor-set at a format judging unit. The YUV data and information of A or B that are YUV format-converted at the format conversion unit are stored in the memory. The selection of the YUV format of A or B is, when the chrominance difference information is small as compared with the threshold value the format is YUV 422 (B conversion), and when it is large the format is that the low order bits of Y, U, V of each pixel are reduced (A conversion).
