  • Publication number: 20100238297
Abstract: A system for compensating for skew in a color video signal transmitted by a cable having multiple conductors is described. A test pulse signal (e.g. a 2 MHz signal) is inserted into the color components (e.g. RGB) of the video signal during time periods in each frame when the RGB video signals are inactive, such as within 300 ?s after the V sync signal. After transmission over the cable, the RGB components with the inserted test signal are delayed relative to each other using a delay line in cooperation with a control circuit. The delay line generates detect signals by detecting relative delays of the test signal pulses inserted in the RGB components. The control circuit controls the amount of delay in the delay line based on the detect signals, so that the RGB components in the video signal outputted by the delay line are synchronized.

  • Patent number: 7564874
Abstract: The encoding and processing of data for many applications can be rendered more tractable when the encoding method can independently manipulate two or more parameters that result, by conjunction, in an accurately posted data value precisely where it is expected. From a data standpoint, this would entail dividing an n-width digital word into separate fractional words and processing the subsets consecutively and independently, where the distinction between these fractional words has an explicit bearing on the information being borne. For example, an 8-bit word can be decomposed into two 4-bit words, half of which are processed while the transmission source is at full intensity, the other half being processed while the transmission source is at 1/16th intensity, thereby recovering the entire dynamic range of the original 8-bit word while reducing the bandwidth and cycle speed necessary for the transducer to be driven by the input signal.
