Publication number: 20090041015Abstract: A method for intelligently distributing packets of a data stream to multiple links of a network for simultaneous transmission via the multiple links, and for periodically re-allocating the distribution, achieves higher network throughput. The method has particular application for streaming audio-video traffic on a home local area network that has a source device, like a media server PC, and a destination device, like a digital TV. One of the links is assigned as the primary link (PL), and another link is assigned as a backup link (BL). Periodically a signal is sent from the source device over each link to the destination device and the round-trip travel time (RTT) for the signal and response for each link is measured. The RTT for a link is a good measure of the current end-to-end link status and generally will change during the time that the data stream is being transmitted as a result of certain events, such as traffic load and interference.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2007Publication date: February 12, 2009Applicant: SHARP LABORATORIES OF AMERICA, INC.Inventor: Fan Zhang

Patent number: 7369179Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to automated methods and systems for converting image streams having a first frame rate to a second frame rate without the need for user intervention. Embodiments of the present invention obviate the effects of processing of a telecine process. In one embodiment, where frames are encoded by a single video field, a statistical analysis of the differences between adjacent frames reveals a telecine pattern, thereby identifying which frames to remove. In another embodiment, where frames are encoded by even and odd video fields, which are interleaved to produce the frame, a statistical analysis of the differences between adjacent fields reveals the telecine pattern, identifies which frames to remove, and identifies frames that are candidates for re-interleaving.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2004Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: RealNetworks, Inc.Inventor: Alan Francis Lippman

Patent number: 7365798Abstract: The procedure of the invention acquires a maximum RB value, which is a largest value of an R signal component and a B signal component, on the assumption that the signal format of an input video signal is an RGB signal, and obtains an RGB probability corresponding to a degree of largeness of the maximum RB value. The procedure also acquires a minimum color difference value, which is a smallest value of a color difference signal component, on the assumption that the signal format of the input video signal is a Y/color difference signal, and obtains a color difference probability corresponding to a degree of smallness of the minimum color difference value. The procedure compares the RGB probability with the color difference probability and thereby determines whether the signal format of the input video signal is the RGB signal or the Y/color difference signal. This arrangement effectively enhances the haccuracy of discrimination between the RGB signal and the Y/color difference signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2004Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Yukihiro Nashida

Patent number: 7359007Abstract: A system and same method are provided for producing video signal timing to a display apparatus that has different input/output image/video format. In addition to an image scaler, the system comprises a clock adjuster including a first and a second clock generator. The first clock generator generates a first clock signal by which the input/source pixel data included in the input/source image frame are received. The second clock signal is generated and adjusted to have an average clock period such that the ratio of the input and output frame rates is substantially kept constant. Thus, the skew between the source/input images and the display/output images can be adjusted, and the output frame repeating and/or dropping can be avoided.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2004Date of Patent: April 15, 2008Assignee: Mediatek Inc.Inventor: Jen-Shi Wu

Patent number: 7345709Abstract: A method and an apparatus of displaying component video signals. Firstly, a component video signal is received, and a vertical synchronous signal and a horizontal synchronous signal are separated from the component video signal. Thereafter, the format of the component video signal is determined by analyzing the vertical synchronous signal and the horizontal synchronous signal, and a video processing route corresponding to the format of the component video signal is chosen to generate visual output from the component video signal. Thus the visual output is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2004Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Delta Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Chien-Ken Chang, Chung-Yi Yang, Chun-Hao Lee, Bao-Kim Liu

Patent number: 7339627Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention may be found in a method and system for automatic aspect ratio detection and may comprise scanning lines in at least a selected portion of an image and locating a first reference pixel in one of the scanned lines. A corresponding sliding sum and a sliding number may be generated starting from the first reference pixel and a white edge determined based on the generated sliding sum and/or the generated sliding number. The first reference pixel may be a non-black pixel and a value which corresponds to and defines non-black may be variably defined. The sliding sum and the sliding number may utilize m bins, where m is greater than one (1). A luma sum threshold may be compared with the generated sliding sum to locate the white edge for aspect ratio detection.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2004Date of Patent: March 4, 2008Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Brian Schoner, Darren Neuman

Patent number: RE40201Abstract: Disclosed is a video signal converting apparatus and a display device having the same which may convert a low-resolution video signal from a host into a different-resolution video signal capable of being displayed on the entire screen of a high-resolution supporting display device. The apparatus has a detector for detecting a first resolution signal indicative of a resolution of the first display signal using horizontal and vertical synchronization signals related to the first display, a comparator for comparing the first resolution signal with a second resolution signal indicative of a reference resolution; and a converter for converting the first display signal into the second resolution signal, if there is a difference between the first and the second resolution signals.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2004Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Byoung-Han Kim
