Abstract: A two-way smart input-in device recognition mechanism determines which input slots of a multi-input display device (such as a television) are actually occupied, and obtains a screen capture of a graphic image for each such device. An embodiment of the present invention automatically associates the screen capture graphics with input-in device locations to enable presenting an intelligent visual input-in selection menu, which may be rendered in response to activation of a Menu button of a remote control device. Preferably, the input-in selection menu only displays graphics for currently-occupied input-in slots.

Abstract: An audio/video (A/V) device having a volume control function for external audio reproduction units by using volume control buttons of a remote controller is provided. The A/V device includes speakers, an audio output port for externally outputting an audio signal, an audio signal processing unit for reproducing and amplifying the audio signal and applying the amplified audio signal to the speakers or the audio output port, a memory unit for storing volume control values, and a control unit for applying to the audio signal processing unit any of the volume control values stored in the memory based on whether the external audio reproduction unit is plugged in the audio output port. The control unit controls the audio signal processing unit to adjust the volume control values for the audio output port by the volume control buttons when the external audio reproduction unit is plugged in the audio output port.

Abstract: A method for operating a KVM switch with independent OSD and control channels comprises the steps of: receiving a functional instruction from the operation and control device; outputting a switch signal to turn off the picture of the selected computer, and starting the channel for the OSD signals; retrieving a pre-stored OSD background picture, and outputting the OSD background video signal and the control command to the OSD processing chip and OSD video switching circuit, and displaying via the monitor; inputting a functional instruction to select an OSD operation picture; outputting the selected OSD operating picture to the OSD processing chip and then to the monitor; inputting a functional instruction to stop the OSD operation; the OSD control system unit enabling the OSD video switching circuit to turn off the channel of the OSD signals, and controlling to switch back to the picture of the computer.

Abstract: An audio/video (A/V) device having a volume control function for external audio reproduction units by using volume control buttons of a remote controller is provided. The A/V device includes speakers, an audio output port for externally outputting an audio signal, an audio signal processing unit for reproducing and amplifying the audio signal and applying the amplified audio signal to the speakers or the audio output port, a memory unit for storing volume control values, and a control unit for applying to the audio signal processing unit any of the volume control values stored in the memory based on whether the external audio reproduction unit is plugged in the audio output port. The control unit controls the audio signal processing unit to adjust the volume control values for the audio output port by the volume control buttons when the external audio reproduction unit is plugged in the audio output port.

Accordingly, subtitles can be provided in a plurality of languages without being limited to a particular number of units of subtitle data. In addition, subtitle data can be easily produced and edited. Likewise, an output style of the subtitle data can be changed in a variety of ways. Also, a special style can be applied in order to emphasize a portion of the subtitles.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus, comprises a signal receiving part receiving a video signal through one of a plurality of channels, a user inputting part in which the channel is selected and inputted by a user, a video processing part processing the video signal received by the signal receiving part, and a controller controlling the signal receiving part to start receiving a video signal through a first channel upon the first channel selection among the plurality of channels by the user, and to start receiving a video signal through a second channel upon the second channel selection among the plurality of channels by the user, wherein the second channel selection is made during the receiving process of the first channel. Thus, the present invention provides a video processing apparatus and a video processing method capable of performing a channel change rapidly to solve the above-described problem.

Abstract: A menu generating method for a TV set is provided in the present disclosure. The menu generating method includes the following steps of: step a: reading menu item data by a system; and step b: determining a classification to which the menu item belongs, wherein if the menu item belongs to a first classification, then the menu item is longitudinally filled into a menu frame, and if the menu item belongs to a second classification, then the menu item is laterally filled into the menu frame according to a menu of the first classification to which the menu belongs. With the menu generating method for a TV set according to the present disclosure, menus can be displayed automatically according to properties of the menus. This allows the menus to be displayed in a very simple and clear way, which makes it convenient for the user to operate the menus.

Abstract: Systems and methods that facilitate the elimination of interference of an IR signal emitted from an IR blaster by the IR signal emitted from a remote control unit. In a preferred embodiment in which an AV device coupled to a television receives IR signals repeated and transmitted by the television over an IR blaster cable, a right hand polarizer lens is positioned on the front of the remote control unit in front of the IR emitter and a left hand polarizer lens is positioned on the AV device in front of its IR detector. In operation, the IR beam emitted from the remote control unit is right hand polarized and is blocked by the left hand polarizer lens. The IR beam emitted from the IR blaster is randomly polarized and passes through the left hand polarizer lens with only a slight attenuation.

For this, a detection unit 3 detecting a gamut error of an input image signal, and a plurality of notifying units 5, 8 and 6, 9 and 11 notifying that a gamut error has occurred in different methods from each other are provided. And, a setting unit 15 carrying out the operation of setting which of these notifying units is to be caused to carry out notification and the operation of setting the condition for deactivating notification of a gamut error is provided. Abstract: A system for generating an on-screen display (OSD) is described. The on-screen display, which has a semitransparent background area, is overlaid on top of an image. The data which make up this image are stored in a buffer. An accumulator, connected to the buffer, is used to examine this data, and store information about it. An attached OSD module used the stored information to automatically adjust the semitransparent background of the OSD.
