  • Patent number: 10621948
Abstract: Various techniques can be used to evaluate and reduce myopiagenic effects of electronic displays are disclosed. In one example, uncorrected image data corresponding to at least one uncorrected frame is assessed by identifying pixels having a red hue in the uncorrected frame(s). Modified image data is provided based on the uncorrected image data and the assessment. The modified image data corresponds to at least one corrected frame corresponding to the at least one uncorrected frame. Corrected frames are displayed, where one or more red-hued pixels in a corrected frame has a reduced degree of red saturation compared to the corresponding pixel in the uncorrected frame. The degree of red saturation in the red-hued pixels in the corrected frame is reduced based on a respective location of the pixels in the corrected frame.

  • Patent number: 9418459
Abstract: A method for filling closed regions in a drawing using a region filling tool that may appear as a paint bucket. Rather than independently selecting regions to fill or filling based on style-by-layer techniques, the user selects a seed region such that other regions of the drawing are filled if parameters of the other regions match the parameters of the seed region. Matching criteria parameters may include an exact match parameter, a shape matching parameter, a layer matching parameter, and a line weight matching parameter. The parameters may be used alone or in conjunction with other parameters. In this manner, multiple regions in the drawing that are similar to the seed region may be filled using one interaction with the region filling tool. This approach allows the user to more efficiently and intuitively fill regions in the drawing.

  • Patent number: 8817190
Abstract: A general moving image includes a plurality of objects in a frame image. At the time of playback, the temporal visual characteristic is taken into consideration uniformly in the overall frame image. It is therefore impossible to perform playback while particularly considering an object of interest. In this invention, when playing back a moving image including a plurality of time-divided frame images, the object adaptation time of each object image is acquired first in the frame image of interest of the plurality of frame images. An adaptation weight is calculated based on the acquired object adaptation time, and a low-pass image reflecting the adaptation weight is generated for each object image. Color adaptation conversion using the low-pass image makes it possible to perform, for the frame image of interest, color conversion based on the adaptation time of each object image and perform color conversion particularly considering an object of interest.

Here, a weakened version of the color stripe process is employed in a video signal whereby the color burst phase alterations are reduced or attenuated so there is no copy prevention effect on a typical video tape recorder. However the weakened color stripe process is still sufficient to be detectable by a suitable detector located in a compliant device, so the detected presence of the color stripe serves as an encoded indication of copy control or other content control for the video signal by the compliant device.

  • Patent number: 7242409
Abstract: A system and method for adjusting the color of an application user interface (UI). A UI allows a user to define hue and saturation values used to adjust first RGB values of pixels determining the color of the UI. A media player application (MPA) calculates second RGB values as a function of the first RGB values and the defined hue and saturation values. The MPA compares the defined saturation value to a threshold saturation value. If the defined saturation value is less than the threshold saturation value, the MPA calculates third RGB values as a function of the second RGB values, and assigns the third RGB values to the pixels determining the color of the UI. If the defined saturation value is equal to or greater than the threshold saturation value, the MPA assigns the second RGB values to the pixels determining the color of the UI.

Abstract: A digital camera includes an LCH conversion circuit. The LCH conversion circuit detects an L component value, a C component value and an H component value from each of pixel signals forming an image signal of an object being photographed. A plurality of reference L component values, reference C component values and reference H component values are held on a reference value table. A plurality of target L component values, target C component values and target H component values are held on a target value table. An L control circuit, a C control circuit and an H control circuit correct the L component value, the C component value and the H component value of each pixel based upon the reference value table and the target value table. A plurality of target values held on the target value table is arbitrarily controlled by a key operation or the like by an operator.

Abstract: A sequence of electronically captured images are converted into modified images providing the appearance of images captured by a film reproduction system, where the film reproduction system is of the type that includes a motion picture negative film printed onto a motion picture print film that is displayed, or a reversal motion picture system in which a reversal film is displayed. After electronically capturing the images, the electronically captured image data is transformed into linearized exposure data, which is subsequently transformed with a linear function that emulates a film exposure of the film reproduction system. The exposure-corrected images are then transformed with a non-linear function that renders the exposure-corrected images with a tone scale of the film reproduction system, and the tonescale-corrected images are transformed with a linear function that emulates a film color look provided by the film reproduction system.

Abstract: A method and system enhances the color of an image by manipulating the chrominance and/or luminance signals of the image. Specifically, a color enhancement system sharpens color changes for better picture quality on digital display systems. In one embodiment of the present invention, color changes are detected by a color change detection unit. If the color changes are significant, a color change sharpening unit sharpens the color change to enhance the image.

  • Patent number: 6690826
Abstract: A system and method for identifying whether sample values of pixel samples in a sample region have two or fewer different sample values represented, such as in graphics data representing text images. Identification is performed by hierarchically dividing the samples of the sample region into sample pairs and comparing the sample values of a first sample pair and a second sample pair to determine if two or fewer sample values are represented by the sample values of the first and second sample pairs. Where two or fewer levels are represented by the sample values of the samples, a tally value is generated and the first and second sample values are recorded. The recorded sample values are compared to the sample values of another sample pair to determine if two or fewer values are represented therein. If so, a new tally value is generated and the sample values are recorded.

Abstract: The present invention discloses the detection of faces in digital images. Rather than subjecting the entire image (1) to computationally intensive face detection analysis, the image is instead segmented into regions (2) each of which has a substantially homogeneous color. Only those regions (2) having a predominantly skin color are then subjected to the face detection analysis. Preferably the face detection analysis is independent of facial color.

Abstract: A system and process for adding a photorealistic rendering of a body of water to a virtual 3D scene or image and creating a video therefrom having interactive water effects. A region of water is added to an image by adding an area depicting the original scene as it would appear if reflected by still body of water. Then, the appearance of the added water region is distorted over a series of image frames in such a way as to simulate how the reflected scene would look if the surface of the water were in motion. The water can have dynamic waves and the user can interact with the water in numbers of ways, including generating ripples on the water surface and creating rain. In addition, these effects can be achieved at full screen resolution with the use of the latest graphics hardware by employing a texture shifting technique.

According to this invention, it would allow the printing operation to be accomplished merely by actuating a print button on operation device 10. The judgment of whether to reverse the black-and-white components, which was the responsibility of the operator in the prior art design, would be made automatically, and the human errors would be eliminated. The proportion of the black monochrome portion among the received black-and-white entire monochrome image. • Patent number: 6476820
Abstract: A signal Y outputted from a Y/C separating circuit is supplied to first and second matrices. Signals R-Y and B-Y are supplied to the first matrix through a gain control amplifier (GCA) and are also supplied to the second matrix. The signals Y, R-Y, and B-Y are converted into three primary color signals R, G, and B by the second matrix. From the signals R, G, and B, a skin color component is detected by a skin color detecting circuit and Eskin is outputted. On the basis of Eskin, color components other than the skin color are detected by a color component detecting circuit and Eother is outputted. Eother−Eskin is supplied as a control voltage to the GCA. Gains for the signals R-Y and B-Y are controlled. When the video signal indicates the skin color component, the control voltage is set to 0 and the gain is set to 1. When the video signal indicates a color component other than the skin color component, Eother is generated, the control voltage rises, and the gain is increased.
