  • Patent number: 10951890
Abstract: Peer-to-peer video streaming software that takes video from a host's Graphical Processing Unit (GPU), moves it to the encoder, manages the color conversions, moves the video into the networking software, and in turn manages the video on a client. This software also handles the inputs from the client and tells the host how to react to the client's inputs. In executing the video streaming, the host broadcasts and renders the video that is or will be streamed. It encodes the video frame with a hardware encoder that is part of the GPU to eliminate latency associated with transferring frames to the central processing unit (CPU). The host transmits compressed video and audio data to the client, and the client uses its hardware decoder and the video streaming software to render the video. The client sends mouse, keyboard, joystick, and controller signals to the host, which varies the bit rate based on the network connection.

  • Publication number: 20150103251
Abstract: Multiple video picture frames are combined into a spatial multiplex video picture frame that may be fully decoded and displayed. The video display of the spatial multiplex video picture frame is a composite combination of all of the video picture frames that have been combined, and may have an appearance such as a mosaic. Multiplexing the video picture frames involves removing picture headers, creating a picture header for the spatial multiplex video picture frame, and altering the headers of individual components of each video picture frame. The new header for the spatial multiplex video picture frame indicates a slice format frame, and headers of the individual components are altered to provide a slice format based picture position for each video picture frame. The headers of the individual components are altered to become slice based, such as in accordance with the ITU-T H.263 video standard, prior to establishing the slice based picture position if the frames are not already of the slice format.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus includes a combining unit that combines encoded streams of a plurality of videos to generate an encoded stream of a multiple-video image composed of the videos, each encoded stream of each video having coding units in each horizontal line that are encoded as a slice, and an insertion unit that inserts an insertion stream into the encoded stream of the multiple-video image generated by the combining unit when a view area of the multiple-video image is moved. The insertion stream is an encoded stream in which all the coding units in the multiple-video image are replaced with skip macroblocks with a motion vector indicating a direction and an amount of movement of the view area.

  • Patent number: 8730398
Abstract: This video output apparatus includes a plurality of input units that input a plurality of video signals and an auxiliary information related to video shot-changes that are associated with the video signals. A composing unit stores the image data associated with the plurality of input video signals in an image memory and reads out image data at a predetermined timing, and outputs a composed video signal. A control unit obtains auxiliary information for each video signal and selects one video signal from among the plurality of video signals by comparing priority orders corresponding to the auxiliary information. The control unit carries out control in which the frame frequency of the video signal that the composition unit outputs by reading out the image data from the image memory is synchronized with the frame frequency of the selected video signal.

  • Patent number: 8687120
Abstract: High definition media content processing techniques are described in which enhanced media content rendering techniques may be performed to output high definition media content. In an implementation, luma keying may be provided to define clear pixels in a composite output using an optimum set of graphics processing instructions. In another implementation, techniques are described which may provide clear rectangles in a composite output of one or more video streams. Clear rectangles to appear in the composite output are configured by a media playback application. A texture is arrived at to represent a union of each of the clear rectangles and is applied to form the clear rectangles in the composite output. In another implementation, capture techniques are described in which an image to capture is resolved as strips to an intermediate texture and then from the texture to a capture buffer in system memory.

Abstract: The present invention proposes to analyze movements of objects in video sequences (e.g. sport videos), by performing motion estimation to determine motion vectors at each frame. With the calculated motion vectors, the movements of the object(s) (e.g. athlete(s)) can be quantitatively measured. Based on this, movements in two videos can be compared at each individual frame of the video sequence. Different approaches (e.g., color coding) can be used to visualize and compare the movements. With motion estimation, intermediate frames can also be inserted to enable better movement comparison in two given videos.

Abstract: As information to be processed at an object-based video or audio-visual (AV) terminal, an object-oriented bitstream includes objects, composition information, and scene demarcation information. Such bitstream structure allows on-line editing, e.g. cut and paste, insertion/deletion, grouping, and special effects. In the interest of ease of editing, AV objects and their composition information are transmitted or accessed on separate logical channels (LCs). Objects which have a lifetime in the decoder beyond their initial presentation time are cached for reuse until a selected expiration time. The system includes a de-multiplexer, a controller which controls the operation of the AV terminal, input buffers, AV objects decoders, buffers for decoded data, a composer, a display, and an object cache.
