Color Convergence Correction Patents (Class 348/807)
  • Patent number: 10075684
Abstract: A pixel displacing correction section performs a pixel displacing correction adapted to shift a position of the sub-pixel in the display target image on the image signal of the sub-pixel supplied to a plurality of light modulators to thereby compensate position shifts of the display positions of the sub-pixels constituting the images of the respective color components to be displayed on the display surface with respect to a reference position. A boundary correction section decreases the luminance represented by the image signal of the sub-pixel of another color component of the pixel, to which the sub-pixel belongs, with respect to the sub-pixel having completely moved outside the effective display range due to the pixel displacing correction.

  • Patent number: 8907974
Abstract: When a single pixel is displayed by four color sub-pixels, or R (red), G (green), B (blue), and G, in a Bayer array, this invention sets the scaling rate of a scaling process to 3/2 times when executing the scaling process on image data having three color components, or R, G, and B, and then executes a color conversion process for finding four color components from the three color components; after this, a decimation process for reducing the number of pixels is carried out. Setting the scaling rate of the scaling process to an integer proportion, moirés caused by the scaling process can be made less noticeable. Note that it is desirable for the scaling rate of the scaling process to be close to ?2 and for the denominator of the integer proportion to be lower.

Abstract: In a rear projection television, cathode ray tubes are mounted inside an enclosure so that each cathode ray tube projects output images onto a rear projection screen using a corresponding electron beam. Calibration images are generated for each cathode ray tube. A camera, also mounted inside the enclosure, acquires an input image of each calibration image. A distortion in each input image is measured, and the output images of the cathode ray tubes are corrected by adjusting the signals controlling the corresponding electron beams according to the distortion.

Abstract: A technique, associated system and computer executable program code, for projecting a superimposed image onto a target display surface under observation of one or more cameras. A projective relationship between each projector being used and the target display surface is determined using a suitable calibration technique. A component image for each projector is then estimated using the information from the calibration, and represented in the frequency domain. Each component image is estimated by: Using the projective relationship, determine a set of sub-sampled, regionally shifted images, represented in the frequency domain; each component image is then composed of a respective set of the sub-sampled, regionally shifted images. In an optimization step, the difference between a sum of the component images and a frequency domain representation of a target image is minimized to produce a second, or subsequent, component image for each projector.

Abstract: A display controller provides luminance values to a display, where values for contrast and brightness for the display are constructed within a gamma correction mapping table. The display controller has an original gamma correction mapping table, a gamma correction transform circuit and a transformed gamma correction mapping table. The original gamma correction mapping table contains entries describing a default luminance value to be provided the display for a magnitude of a video input signal. The gamma correction transform circuit receives entries from the original gamma correction mapping table and from the contrast signal and brightness signal, transforms the entries to transformed luminance values. The transformed luminance values are placed in the transformed gamma correction mapping table. The transformed gamma correction mapping table receives a video signal that provides a pointer to the luminance values to be used to drive the display.

One of the three cathode ray tubes has the convergence yoke coupled for current flow in a direction opposite to that of the other two convergence yokes. A circuit for generating a correction signal to correct image distortion on a display screen, comprises a memory storing displacement values corresponding to spaced points on the screen in a grid of rows and columns.
