  • Patent number: 8144266
Abstract: In a TV system with a modular configuration that permits licensed primary modules such as disk players and personal video recorders to be removably slid into engagement with receptacles in the TV housing, an adapter primary module is provided that is formed with secondary receptacles for receiving secondary modules. The secondary modules have USB ports, Ethernet ports, and memory card slots in a configuration that can be designed by entities other than the TV manufacturer, with the secondary modules having to conform to proprietary licensed interfaces in the adaptor module to ensure a degree of control by the TV manufacturer.

  • Patent number: 8086088
Abstract: The present invention is related to a digital video recording method, and in particular, when a recording mode is audio detection, according to an audio signal transmitted from a mike mounted on a camera or a mike mounted separately, this method records the video taken by said camera during the time period for which a recording speed and video resolution is already set as super-high speed and high video resolution. After the elapse of an already set time period, when the audio signal is sensed, this method records the video by varying the recording speed and video resolution from super-high speed and high video resolution into low-speed and low video resolution at a time interval which is already set. Therefore, it becomes possible to obtain the specific information about the video data which is important in an unmanned security system.

Abstract: A flat panel video display comprising a separable and removable cartridge comprising connectors and/or circuitry of the input/output electronics that can be removed from the video display. The input/output (and optionally the A/C power) circuitry is enclosed in the cartridge, which can be inserted into and removed from a similarly shaped cavity in the case of the video display. Both the cartridge and cavity have corresponding channels allowing the cartridge to slide properly into place while preventing incorrect insertion of the cartridge. Once fully inserted into the cavity, all electronic connections are made between the circuit board (and optionally A/C power) in the cartridge and the rest of the video display are made allowing the video display to function normally. The cartridge body has a latching mechanism tensioned by a spring allowing it to lock into place. The latch is disengaged by depressing a button on the exposed side of the cartridge, allowing the cartridge to be removed.
