The video providing system includes a memory configured to store device information of a display device, an analyzer configured to receive an original video from the outside and analyze images in the original video, and a processor configured to generate, from the original video, video streams according to a streaming mode and control signals of the display device respectively corresponding to the video streams, based on device information of a display device and analysis information from the analyzer, and provide the video streams and the control signals to the display device.

Abstract: An example of peripheral device adds a predetermined function to a mobile device having an infrared communication function. The peripheral device includes an additional function unit, an infrared communication unit, and a support unit. The additional function unit has the predetermined function. The infrared communication unit is capable of performing infrared communication with the mobile device. The support unit detachably supports the mobile device so that a light emitting/receiving unit for infrared light of the mobile device is positioned so as to be capable of transmitting or receiving infrared light to or from the infrared communication unit.

Abstract: An information communication method is provided that includes continuously capturing an image of a subject that transmits a signal by changing luminance, with an image sensor, and displaying a captured image that includes a box. The method also includes determining whether the subject is in the box, and receiving the signal transmitted by the subject when it is determined that the subject is in the box. In in the receiving, image data is obtained by capturing the subject with an exposure time, the signal is obtained by demodulating a bright line pattern, and the bright line pattern is caused to appear in the image data by setting the exposure time to be less than or equal to 1/480 second.

Abstract: A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).

Abstract: A telecommunications network for a high-rise Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) is provided. In the telecommunications network eliminates much of the wiring and space required for voice, video and data services, electrical closets, security cameras, building automation, fire annunciation systems, hard-wired smoke detectors, hard-wired heat detectors, electrical meters through the use of an integrated Ethernet communication system. Additionally, a video program guide (VPG) is provided that allows a user to interact with multiple streams of video in real time. The VPG includes techniques for displaying multiple streams of data on a single screen for a user.

Abstract: An automatic playback overshoot correction system predicts the position in the program material where the user expects to be when the user stops the fast forward progression of the program material. The system determines the position where the program material was stopped and transitions to the new mode that the user selected, starting at the stopped position with an overshoot correction factor subtracted from it. The system uses a prediction method to correctly place the user within the program upon transition out of fast forward mode and determines if the speed of the fast forward mode and then automatically subtracts a time multiple to the frame where the transition was detected and positions the user at the correct frame. The time multiple is fine tuned if the user is consistently correcting after the fast forward mode stops.

Abstract: A television system that provides an on screen display menu system that allows a user to select from available input source using a graphical user interface. The television system also automatically adapts to the type on input signal selected for display. The television system and on screen display menu also support interaction between the television system and attached devices to unify the control of such devices including attached personal computers through the remote control of the television system.

Abstract: Various systems and methods allow aggregation and display of content information associated with entertainment devices using a device-to-device messaging protocol such as that provided by the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) standard. Content information such as electronic program guide (EPG) data for multiple entertainment devices may be displayed, for example, using the on-screen display (OSD) of a single entertainment device.

Abstract: Disclosed are a remote control method for multi-terminal device, and a related apparatus and system. The method comprises: receiving, by a user terminal, a first switching instruction sent by a main remote controller via a forwarding device; responding to the first switching instruction, and displaying an identifier of a first slave remote controller pre-added to a remote controller list; and sending key value information about the first slave remote controller stored in a database to the main remote controller via the forwarding device, so that the main remote controller refreshes the key value information about the key layout of the main remote controller according to the key value information about the first slave remote controller, and performs a remote control operation on a terminal device corresponding to the first slave remote controller.

Abstract: The present application discloses systems, computer-readable media, and methods for aligning widgets and groups of widgets, and defining relationships between the widgets and groups of widgets. In a first case, a most significant sub-component border determination may be made for each widget. Then, a grouping relationship determined between each of a plurality of the widgets. Finally, for each widget in each determined group, the widgets may be aligned based on the determined most significant sub-component border of each widget in the group. In a second case, connections between widgets, groups of widgets, and/or edges of a page are determined, and an algorithm applied to infer whether a relationship exists, and if it does, to determine whether the relationship is one of a fixed-distance relationship and a proportional-distance relationship.

The method comprises: receiving remote control information sent by a remote-controlling terminal; executing a control instruction on a corresponding webpage in accordance with the remote control information, or sending information on the corresponding webpage back to the remote-controlling terminal and executing a control instruction selected or entered by a user at the remote-controlling terminal based on information on the corresponding webpage; and returning execution result to the remote-controlling terminal in a webpage format so that the remote-controlling terminal can obtain information on current execution result at a remote-controlled terminal based on the returned webpage.

Abstract: A first device and a second device are placed into communication via use of a first communications link and, in response, the first device and the second device exchange data via use of the first communications link to thereby configure the first device to receive communications from the second device via use of a second communications link different than the first communications link. Abstract: A system and method are provided for content-based non-linear control of video data playback. A multimedia database having multimedia data including multimedia content data is searched based on a user query to determine a first set of multimedia data. The multimedia data includes indexes to and condensed representations of corresponding video data stored in a video database. A portion of the first set of multimedia data is displayed at a control device in response to the user query. A user of the control device selects an element of the first set of multimedia data for video playback and video data corresponding to the element delivered to a video device for playback. A user of the control device selects an element of the first set of multimedia data for additional information and a second set of multimedia data corresponding to the element delivered to the control device.

Abstract: A TV-Internet Integration Box allows display of first data broadcast over a TV subscriber channel simultaneously together with second data broadcast over a digital data communications network has respective first and second inputs for receiving at a user premises the first data and the second data according to a user-profile associated with the second data. A combiner unit combines the first data and second data to form a combined video signal; and a video output coupled to the combiner unit conveys the combined video signal to a TV set in a user premises for displaying a first image corresponding to a first data and having a superimposed thereon a second image corresponding to the second data. A user at the user premises may interact with the second image for redirecting to the digital data communications network and displaying a program broadcast thereby is a least a portion of the TV set.

Abstract: An automatic playback overshoot correction system predicts the position in the program material where the user expects to be when the user stops the fast forward progression of the program material. The system determines the position where the program material was stopped and transitions to the new mode that the user selected, starting at the stopped position with an overshoot correction factor subtracted from it. In the event that the user selects a digital video home system (DVHS) from the buttons displayed on the DTV operating screen, data corresponding to the DVHS operation screen is input to the DTV, and a DVHS operation screen is displayed on the CRT display screen 61. The user operation instructions executed regarding the DVHS operation screen are notified from the digital television DTV to the DVHS, so the DTV can execute control corresponding to the operations of the user, without transmitting commands for directly controlling the DVHS.

Abstract: An information communication method is provided that includes continuously capturing an image of a subject that transmits a signal by changing luminance, with an image sensor. The method also includes displaying a captured image that includes a box and a subject image for identifying the subject, while continuously updating a position of the subject image on the captured image, according to a positional relationship between the image sensor and the subject established when the image of the subject is captured. The method further includes determining whether the subject image is in the box, and receiving the signal transmitted by the subject when it is determined that the subject image is in the box. In the receiving, information is obtained by demodulating a bright line pattern that appears in a second image data and corresponds to the plurality of exposure lines.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for a media guidance application that enhances the viewing experiences of users consuming media having important content. If a user is prevented from viewing media having important content that will be displayed eminently, the media having the important content may be displayed on a second device. For example, in this manner, a user will not inadvertently miss content from a movie or sports game right before an important scene in the movie or an important play in the sports game is displayed.

Abstract: An analyzer resource monitors content access information indicating availability of different types of content available to multiple subscribers over a shared communication link. To facilitate selection of content by respective subscribers, the analyzer resource sorts the available content into different classes (genres) based on a respective subject matter of the corresponding available content. The analyzer resource produces a listing of the different classes (genres) of available content. Subscribers select and/or customize genre-based feeds to store content in a repository for later retrieval.

Abstract: An interactive television application with mosaic browsing is provided. Selectable cells that may be associated with entities are used to display information corresponding to the entities. Information may include brand marks such as logos or any other suitable entity identifier. A cell may be in focus or it may not be in focus. When a cell is in focus the information displayed in the cell may be different than the information displayed when the cell is not in focus. Users may navigate among cells. The cells may be grouped into regions based on, for example, their association with similar entities.

Abstract: A particular method includes receiving, at a control server from a user terminal, input selecting at least one media device that generates media output in an output format. The method includes sending a signal from the control server to a media switch to couple an output of the at least one media device to the user terminal. The media output of the at least one media device is sent to the user terminal in the output format when the output is coupled to the user terminal. The method includes receiving, at the control server from the user terminal, a command to be performed by the at least one media device. The method also includes sending command data from the control server to one or more controllers associated with the at least one media device. The at least one media device is controlled based on the command data to perform the command.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for managing data includes determining that a cache access count for a given data block is greater than an average cache access count, receiving a list of active applications accessing the given data block with an anticipated access count for each active application, receiving a list of applications that are anticipated to access the given data block within a time window with an anticipated future access count for each anticipated application, determining that a block application access weight is greater than a block application access threshold, determining that a cache profile weight for the given data block is greater than zero, and sending the cache profile weight to a file system. The multimedia server includes a tuning module to receive the plurality of programs and to select a set of programs from the plurality of programs based on a set of program select commands that is derived from select requests. A program mixer mixes the set of programs into a stream of program data. One or more transceiving modules transmit the stream of program data on to corresponding communication paths and receive the select requests. A client module produces the select requests for one or more clients. The client module includes a selection module to produce at least one of the select requests. A network interface controller transmits at least one of select requests to the multimedia server and receives the stream of program data via the communication path or paths in response.

Abstract: A navigation interface display system generates a navigation element that organizes television programming data in an easy-to-use manner. The navigation element employs a hierarchical display protocol for a plurality of selection items that represent the various television programs, channels, and/or networks. The hierarchical display scheme displays a limited number of active selection items at a first magnification level and additional active selection items at a second magnification level. In addition, the selection items are displayed on distinctive areas or features of the navigation element, where such features represent different content genres or categories. Subcategories can also be displayed in a hierarchical manner, thus providing additional information related to the content as the magnification level of the navigation element changes.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for upgrading high-availability database systems. The method commences by specifying a subject database configuration state (e.g., an initial state) as well as an upgraded database configuration state (e.g., an upgraded state). Then, the method performs operations for compiling the specifications and validating the upgraded database configuration state with respect to the specified subject database configuration state. Compile errors are reported and a user can change the specifications. Once the compiler determines that the upgraded configuration state can be reached from the subject database configuration state, then the method generates an upgrade plan. The upgrade plan is executed by a computer-implemented controller. During execution of the plan, the controller pauses for accepting user intervention at key execution points. The controller monitors state changes to establish checkpoints.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for receiving a controllability indicator at a portable communication device, the controllability indicator received from a stationary communication device. The controllability indicator indicates whether a trickplay feature is available for controlling a presentation of multimedia content, and is determined from a characterization of the multimedia content. The method further includes presenting a trickplay indicator at the portable communication device according to the controllability indicator to indicate whether the trickplay feature is available. A set of sentiment scores associated with the set of comments is generated, wherein each sentiment score indicates a type of sentiment expressed in a comment. The sentiment profile is generated responsive at least in part to the set of sentiment scores, the sentiment profile indicating the types of sentiment expressed in comments associated with the item of media content and stored in association with the item of media content.

Abstract: A multimedia server receives a plurality of programs of a multimedia source. The multimedia server includes a tuning module to receive the plurality of programs and to select a set of programs from the plurality of programs based on a set of program select commands that is derived from select requests. A program mixer mixes the set of programs into a stream of program data. One or more transceiving modules transmit the stream of program data on to corresponding communication paths and receive the select requests. A network interface controller transmits at least one of select requests to the multimedia server and receives the stream of program data via the communication path or paths in response.

Abstract: A tuner receives an input signal in which a high bandwidth video data stream is multiplexed amongst multiple fixed-bandwidth channels. The tuner receives instructions to output the high bandwidth video data stream and tunes and demodulates the input signal for the multiple fixed-bandwidth carriers in parallel. The tuner can apply error correction to the demodulated signal and identify data packets associated with the high bandwidth video data stream. The tuner combines the identified data packets to recover the original high bandwidth video data stream and outputs the high bandwidth video data stream via a universal serial bus port. As such, the tuner can be connected to a legacy receiver unit as an external module that enables the legacy receiver unit to receive high bandwidth video data streams that are multiplexed amongst multiple fixed-bandwidth channels.

Abstract: A smart device is provided with a main remote control application that may be configured using information obtained from a QR code. The main remote control application may present images of original remote controls corresponding to devices which are controllable by the configured main remote control application. In connection with a presented image of an original remote control, the display may present icons that are representative of a subset of the buttons of the original remote control. The user interface also allows a user to select amongst the images of the original remote controls to change which appliances are to be controlled via the user interface. A pop-up remote control widget may also be provided which may be invoked without switching to the main remote control application provisioned on the smart device.
