The optical film sheet is disposed above the first light emitting element and the second light emitting element. The optical film sheet includes a first zone and a second zone. The first zone includes a first cholesteric liquid crystal, and the first cholesteric liquid crystal reflects light in at least the first wavelength range. The second zone includes a second cholesteric liquid crystal, and the second cholesteric liquid crystal reflects light in at least the second wavelength range.

Incoming light is circularly polarized to one handedness by the circular polarizer, and the tunable cholesteric filter transmits the circularly polarized light and reflects the opposite handedness of the circularly polarized light if within the reflection band of the filter, with the reflection band of the tunable cholesteric filter varying with a control voltage. In a preferred embodiment, a mirror is arranged to receive light transmitted by the tunable cholesteric filter and reflect it back towards the filter with flipped handedness, with the reflected light with flipped handedness that is within the reflection band of the tunable cholesteric filter reflected by the tunable cholesteric filter back toward the mirror. The architecture described effectively converts the reflection band of a tunable cholesteric filter into a tunable bandpass filter for a multi-spectral imaging lens.

An optical member includes: a linear polarizer, a blue cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) layer configured to transmit light, the light having only one of: a left-handed circularly polarized light component and a right-handed circularly polarized light component, and a quarter wave plate configured to convert the transmitted light, having the left-handed circularly polarized light component or right-handed circularly polarized light component, into linear polarized light, wherein the blue cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) layer and the quarter wave plate are located on a same side of the linear polarizer.
