Edge Lit Type Light Guide Behind Liquid Crystal Patents (Class 349/65)
  • Patent number: 9274261
Abstract: A light emitting device comprising a first frame, a light bar and a light guide plate is provided. The first frame has a groove which has a bottom plane, two inner walls, and an opening. The light bar disposed in the groove comprises a substrate having a lower surface attached to the bottom plane and an upper surface having several light sources. The light guide plate has a light emitting surface and a light incident surface. The light incident surface perpendicular and adjoining to the light emitting surface has several abutting portions. The light guide plate is inserted to the groove via the opening. The emitting light of the light source entering the light guide plate is guided by the light guide plate to be emitted off the light emitting surface. The abutting portions abut to the upper surface, so that the light bar is fixed in the groove.

Abstract: In a surface light source device, a light guide plate includes a light introduction part that traps the light emitted from a point light source and incident from a light incident surface, and a light guide plate body. The light introduction part includes an inclined surface inclined from a surface in a portion having a thickness larger than that of the light guide plate body toward an end of the surface of the light guide plate body. The light guide plate body includes a directivity conversion pattern located between an effective lighting region of the light guide plate body and the light introduction part. The directivity conversion pattern converts a directivity direction of the light from the light introduction part to the effective lighting region such that an angle formed by the directivity direction and a direction perpendicular to the light incident surface decreases when viewed from above.

Abstract: A patterned light emitting diode device includes a layer of light emitting material between an anode and a cathode. Further, a light-reflective layer is visible through a light-emission window of the patterned light emitting diode device. The light-reflective layer includes a pattern formed by local deformations of the light-reflective layer. The pattern may be generated via impinging condensed light beam which may enter via a rear-wall of the light-reflective layer, or via impinging the condensed light beam through the light-emission window on the light-reflective layer. The deformations may be generated without significantly altering the conductivity of the light-reflective layer. An effect of this patterned light emitting diode device is that the pattern remains clearly visible both during an on-state and during an off-state of the light emitting diode device.

  • Patent number: 9052520
Abstract: An illumination device capable of suppressing formation of a double image in three-dimensional display, and a display unit including the illumination device are provided. In a light modulation device bonded to a light guide plate, a scattering region that scatters light propagating within the light guide plate, and a transmissive region that allows light propagating within the light guide plate to pass therethrough are formed through control of an electric field. The scattering region scatters light to generate linear illumination light. A reflector is provided directly below the light modulation device. The reflector reflects light, which is part of the scattered light generated in the scattering region and is emitted to a reflector side, to generate reflected light to be focused directly below the scattering region.
