  • Patent number: 8840244
Abstract: A retainer is releasably secured to a pair of eyeglasses that includes flattened and widened temple members. Each temple member includes a heart-shaped hole at its distal end that serves as the point of attachment for the retainer. The retainer includes a pair of selectively enclosable lobster claw clasps that are coupled to opposite ends of an elongated, highly ornamental necklace. Each clasp includes a C-shaped hooked portion and an articulating finger pivotally coupled thereto, with pivotal displacement of the finger allowing for selective enclosure of the hooked portion. When secured to the glasses, the retainer applies no discomfort to the user since the clasp can rest on the elongated part of the heart-shaped hole. The means for attaching the retainer to the eyeglasses is not only strong and secure but also aesthetically pleasing and can be easily changed to suit the attire of the user.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a mechanism for magnetically biasing a pair of eyeglasses between open and closed configurations. Magnetic material on the frame front and magnetic material on the temples create a magnetic interaction that biases the eyeglasses toward an open or closed configuration. The magnetic interaction may be attractive, repulsive, or a combination of the two. The mechanism may provide a bias in all eyeglass configurations or only in select ranges of configurations.

Abstract: A temple assembly of a pair of eyeglasses is coupled to a frame body without screws. The temple assembly of eyeglasses includes a first connecting member and a second connecting member. The first connecting member includes a lever arm portion and a latching portion extended by the lever arm portion along the direction distal from said frame body. The second connecting member includes an elastic portion and an engaging portion extended by the elastic portion along the direction distal from the frame body; wherein the latching portion detachably coupled to the engaging portion, the elastic portion approached elastically to the lever arm portion. Thereby, an end piece of the frame body is rotatably coupled between the lever arm portion and the elastic portion.

Abstract: Eyewear and eyewear frames are described, which may include temples having a contoured profile for a cooperating fit, for example, with circumaural headsets. Eyewear frames according to the examples herein may include a pair of temples coupled to a front portion of a frame, each of the temples having a hinge portion and an arm portion. The arm portions may bend inward from the hinge portion towards a region defined between the temples and may bend outward and curve around a head of a wearer for a conformal fit with the head of the wearer. The arm portion of the temples may further have a generally flattened profile in the transverse cross-section to provide a low profile against the head of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 8757796
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a frame which comprises a front surface, extended by two lateral posts and two arms hinged to the posts about the hinge pins of two telescopic hinges, each of which, with a front surface element rigidly connected to a post and an arm element, is rigidly connected to an arm that comprises a slide hinged on the front surface element, and mounted in a sheath against a spring and slidable by means of the latter; the front surface element and the sheath of the arm element engaging, in the open position of the arm, by at least two matching transverse surfaces for stopping the opening. The surfaces that stop the opening of the two elements of each hinge are rough, the surface that stops the opening of one of the elements, of the surface, and of the arm having a hollow intermediate area. Thanks to the present method, system and device, the frame hinges have a reduced size with the same performance.

  • Patent number: 8757798
Abstract: An eyewear utilizing a screw-less hinge to connect the temple to the frame. The frames terminate laterally at an open, curved rung configured to receive a cylinder. This cylinder is fixed to the temple. Due to the configuration of the curved rung, the cylinder can be inserted into the curved rung in a rotatable or pivotable fashion. The cylinder receiving the curved rung holds the frame together and keeps eye wires from opening, thus keeping lenses from falling out of the eyewear. A wedge tool can be used to displace the curved rung from the cylinder to easily remove the temple from the frame.

A temple has a front end formed with resilient connecting members that each have a front end formed as a fastening claw for mating the pivot. The fastening claws of the temple are bent in are bent toward different directions, so as to grasp the pivot in the different directions, and hold the pendent insert of the lug received in the trough of the pivot in position. The opening of the lug allows the fastening claws of the connecting members of the corresponding temple to move therein, thereby forming the improved hinge structure that is assembled without using any screws and tools.
