With Clamping Arms Patents (Class 351/152)
  • Patent number: 8343391
Abstract: Photochromic matrix compositions and tie layer compositions useful for the preparation of photochromic polycarbonate lenses are disclosed. The tie layer compositions facilitate adhesion of the photochromic matrix composition to the polycarbonate lens. The photochromic matrix compositions can contain a flexible hydrophilic dimethacrylate monomer, one or more hydrophobic monomers, a flexible hydrophobic multi(meth)acrylate monomer, one or more urethane methacrylate oligomers, and one or more photochromic dyes. The tie layer compositions can contain one or more methacrylate monomers, a (meth)acrylated oligomer with a polycarbonate backbone, one or more urethane methacrylate oligomers, and a solvent or solvent mixture. Methods of preparing photochromic polycarbonate lenses are also disclosed, involving the serial application of the tie layer composition, then the photochromic matrix composition to the lens.

  • Patent number: 7384142
Abstract: A rimlock for use with an eyeglass frame is provided. The rimlock comprises a pair of flanges which protrude from the frame at a split therein. A spring is fed through a bore passing through the flanges whereby a portion of the spring internal to the rimlock at a widened portion of the bore is in tension thereby biasing the flanges into engagement allowing the frame to hold a lens in position within the frame. By pulling the flanges apart, the lens can be removed.

  • Patent number: 6955431
Abstract: A lens holding structure for brackets of frameless spectacles includes a bracket which has a bolt extended therefrom with an axial key way formed thereon and a holder which has a screw hole on one end with an axial jutting key to couple with the key way, and an arm on another end thereof. The lens is held on the ends by one end of the bracket and one side of the arm. The bracket and the arm have respectively a clamping section. One or all of the clamping sections has a coarse means. Thus the holder may be moved by turning a nut coupled on the bolt to clamp the lens steadily between the bracket and the holder without drilling coupling holes on the lens.

  • Patent number: 6296357
Abstract: A device (10) for clamping a lens (11) to a spectacle frame (12) comprises a bridge (16), which is rotatable about a pin (19) fixed to the body of the frontal frame or to the nose pad carrying element of the spectacle, said bridge being provided with two opposite ends relative to said pin, of which: a first end (27) is provided with a thread suitable for cooperating with a screw (26) which is suitable for causing the rotation movement of the bridge about said pin; and the second end (28) directly cooperates with the lens, by exerting a force on the surface of said lens, said force keeping the lens pressed against a conjugate element (22, 24) which is present on the body of the frontal frame and/or of the nose pad carrying element.

  • Patent number: 4313652
Abstract: A method and apparatus for eyeglass adjustment and retention wherein two lens supporting members form a locking cavity between them and are tightened together over a grooved portion at the top of the lens, tightly retaining the lens against lateral movement without touching the sides of the lens, and are adjustable for easily readjusting the lateral position of the lens on the eyeglass frame for fitting special purpose lens to a wearer when lateral position is crucial to the proper functioning of the lens.

  • Patent number: 4084888
Abstract: A cover having a U-shaped cross section is slidably affixed over opposed lugs of a spectacle frame wherein the lugs thereof are held together by a fastener having the tail end thereof extending through one of the lugs. One of the legs of the U-section covers the head of the fastener located at the other lug and, the other cover leg has a hole therethrough and a cut-away portion extending between the hole and the edge of the leg so that the cover can be slid over the tail end of the fastener to locate it in the hole.
