Abstract: Methods and systems disclosed herein relate generally to systems and methods for modifying pixel values of an image to improve the visibility of target pixel patterns. A pixel-simulation application accesses an initial image including an initial set of pixel values. The initial set of pixel values define, in an initial color space, a particular color of pixels that indicate a target pixel pattern. The pixel-simulation application generates, based on the initial set of pixel values, a simulated image including a modified set of pixel values that visually indicate another color of pixels in an intermediate color space. The pixel-simulation application generates a pixel map by identifying a difference between the initial set pixel values of the initial image and the modified set of pixel values of simulated image. The pixel-simulation application generates, for display, an output image based at least in part on the pixel map.

Further, the rendered image has a shadow accuracy as measured according to a Shadowing Test, of at least 75%. The Shadowing Test compares a shadow fidelity of the rendered image to the color calibrated photograph at least partially based on luminance angle and intensity and one or more rendered shadows are measured for accuracy of size and luminance.

  • Patent number: 10607101
Abstract: Images in bitonal formats often include watermarks, stamps, or other patterns and artifacts. These patterned artifacts may be represented as a series of geometric points, dots, and/or dashes in the general shape of the original pattern. These patterned artifacts make other processes such as optical character recognition (OCR) difficult or impossible when items or pixels of interest are also found within the pattern of such artifact(s). Current patterned artifact removal solutions use methods of erosion to minimize the unwanted patterned artifact. However, such methods also erode the pixels/items of interest which, in turn, cause failures in other processes, such as OCR, that are desired to be carried out on or with the image.

Abstract: The disclosed computer system may include an input module, an autoencoder, and a rendering module. The input module may receive geometry information and images of a subject. The geometry information may be indicative of variation in geometry of the subject over time. Each image may be associated with a respective viewpoint and may include a view-dependent texture map of the subject. The autoencoder may jointly encode texture information and the geometry information to provide a latent vector. The autoencoder may infer, using the latent vector, an inferred geometry and an inferred view-dependent texture of the subject for a predicted viewpoint. The rendering module may be configured to render a reconstructed image of the subject for the predicted viewpoint using the inferred geometry and the inferred view-dependent texture. Various other systems and methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10425645
Abstract: The invention relates to the encoding of pixel blocks. To apply some encoding tools, an input 4:2:0 block is upsampled into a 4:4:4 block. Each color component of the 4:4:4 block has thus the same importance when evaluating a distortion measure. To vary the influence of the color components depending on their impact on the decoding, the invention provides assigning weights to the color components of pixels of the 4:4:4 block depending on whether the corresponding color components exist in the 4:2:0 block, due to the subsampling. In such a case, any measure is evaluated using the weighted color components. This approach may apply to the palette coding mode, for instance when updating the color component values of a palette entry upon building, or selecting the closest palette entry to a pixel currently considered, or also determining whether a palette entry predictor may be used instead of a palette entry.
