Abstract: Processing print jobs on a computer which comprises generating a first print ready job file by a first print module based on an input print job file and generating a second print ready job file by a second print module based on the input print job file. The first print ready job file is compared to the second print ready job file, and if there is at least one difference between the first print ready job file and the second print ready job file, the input print job file is forwarded to a PSP (printer service provider) that is configured with the first print module or the second print ready job file is forwarded to a PSP that is configured with the second print module.

Abstract: There is provided a printing device, comprising: a data receiving unit configured to receive print job data; a buffer used to store the print job data; a judgment unit configured to judge whether the print job data received by the data receiving unit can be stored in available space of the buffer; and a deletion target extraction unit configured such that, in response to the judgment unit judging that the print job data received by the data receiving unit can not be stored in available space of the buffer, the deletion target extraction unit extracts deletion target print job data which can de deleted from the buffer, from among one or more pieces of print job data stored in the buffer.

Abstract: The scanning and processing of a multi-page document is described wherein scan images are generated by optically scanning a sequence of pages of a multi-page document such as a book, processing the scan images to generate page images corresponding to original pages of the multi-page document, e.g., by deskewing and removing black border areas, and after generating a proposed page image, it is checked to determine if there is a chance that the image contains errors, by detecting if its image parameters, such as the text area coordinates (X1, X2, X3, X4, Y1, Y2) are according to target criteria which are based on a statistical analysis of the document. If the page image satisfies the target criteria, the page image is automatically accepted, and if it does not, the page image is displayed to an operator to accept or to adjust the page image.

Abstract: A transmission device including a detection unit, a processing unit and a transmission unit. The detection unit detects whether there are plural consecutive transmission elements in which absolute values of differences between lengths of the transmission elements are equal to or less than a pre-specified value. If intermission periods are not provided in the detected transmission elements, the processing unit performs processing that inserts at least one of an irregular signal and an intermission period into at least one of the transmission elements. If intermission periods are provided in the detected transmission elements, the processing unit performs at least one of processing that changes a length of the intermission period provided in at least one of the detected transmission elements and processing that inserts an irregular signal into at least one transmission element. The transmission unit transmits the processed transmission elements in an order of a transmission element group.

The image processing apparatus is configured to notify a user that next reading processing is acceptable when receiving of the image data with low data amount is completed. Abstract: In a system operating under a Web environment in which a service providing server controls the provision of services with operating a Web server and a client apparatus provides service with operating a Web browser are connected via a network. The service providing server stores the history of a job with a reference destination address, and determines the status when a job status has changed, determines differing reference destination addresses to be included in the history based on the determined status, creates a file to be used to distribute updated information including the reference destination address from the history, and transmits the file to the Web browser. This arrangement enables the system providing a service in a browser-based environment and on the WWW platform to operate under a Web environment where it is possible to notify a user of an error independently of the status of a job.

Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus which suitably collects information necessary for performing a cause analysis when a communication failure occurs. To accomplish this, when communication is performed between an information processing apparatus 102 and an external apparatus 101 through a network, determination is made as to whether or not the communication between the information processing apparatus 102 and the external apparatus 101 has properly been performed from the time the connection is established until the time the connection is disconnected. Abstract: A method of transmitting a data set comprising at least one medical data from a first imaging station to at least one other imaging station via a network interface in a DICOM standard communication system is provided. The method comprises the acts of selecting a first medical data from the data set for transmission; checking a memory of the first imaging station for a receipt of an acknowledgement signal indicative of a successful transmission of the first medical data to the at least one other imaging station; transmitting the medical data if the act of checking does not detect the receipt of acknowledgement signal; receiving the acknowledgment signal from the at least one other imaging station in response to a successful receipt of the first medical data at the at least one other imagine station; and storing the receipt of acknowledgement signal in the memory of the first imaging station.

Abstract: A facsimile machine receives image data, generates a password for received image data, assigns the generated password to the received image data, and stores the received image data. Information indicating a notification destination is extracted from the received image data, and the notification destination is notified of the password. The received image data are output responsive to subsequent input of the password at the facsimile machine. This scheme provides password protection without forcing users to register and remember passwords, and without the risk that a compromised password may be used for unauthorized output of facsimile data received later.

Abstract: Techniques and systems for controlling resources used by a device's web services applications are disclosed. In one technique, web services applications release their allocated resources and enter a “sleep mode” after being inactive for a specified period of time. In one technique, a device maintains a shared pool of memory resources. The pool contains data structures that web services applications are likely to re-use. Before allocating a new instance of a needed data structure from free memory, a web services application first determines whether the shared pool already contains a currently unused but allocated instance of a data structure of the needed type, and, if the shared pool does, then the web service application uses that instance, overwriting existing data in the instance as needed. Web services applications return such data structures to the shared pool when those web services applications are finished using those data structures.

Abstract: Multiple images are combined where the images exhibit variations in illumination between one another. The images are of the same portion of an object, and each image is represented by a set of image data. A comparative data transform is applied to each set of image data, such that the transformed comparative image data isolates and preserves first variations in the illumination between the images but suppresses second differences in illumination between the images. At least one normalization transform is determined from the transformed comparative image data sets. When applied to at least one of the image data sets, the at least one normalization transform minimizes the variation in illumination between the image data sets. Each determined normalization transform is applied to the at least one of the image data sets. The normalized sets of image data are transformed to a single image of the portion of the object.

In the approach, before printing any print element (e.g. file, document) in a batch job that includes supported print elements and unsupported print elements, a support status indication is outputted for each of the print elements and the user is required to input a group print instruction before the approach proceeds to print the supported print elements. The approach in some embodiments also allows the user to input a group cancel instruction instructing to cancel the batch job without printing any of the print elements and allows the user to input a change instruction requesting modification of one or more unsupported print elements in an attempt to convert them into supported print elements.

Abstract: A facsimile apparatus is disclosed that includes a register unit that registers transmission destination information in an internal address book. The register unit receives a number input at least a first time and a second time, and upon determining that a number input the first time and a number input the second time correspond to a same input number, registers the same input number as a valid facsimile number.

Abstract: The invention is directed to techniques of facilitating document transmission from one entity through an electronic communications network. An entity may be a legally recognized person such as a corporation, partnership, organization, government, individual, and the like. As a legally recognized person, an entity may act as a principal with respect to one or more authorized agents. Furthermore, as a legal person, an entity may authorize one or more of its agents to use fax transmission equipment such as the fax certification system described herein. The techniques of this invention assure a second entity that a first entity has indeed authorized its agent to send a document from a fax station under the controls of the first entity.

Abstract: The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to systems and methods for transmitting a secure electronic fax or scan transmission report for a fax or scan job from a fax capable printer or a multifunctional device respectively. When the electronic confirmation (EConfirmation) option is selected, the machine sends an email comprising a status of the fax or scan job to the sender and a hyperlink. The sender then selects or “clicks” on the hyperlink, which connects to the machine Web (UI) Services. Web services automatically retrieves the job information and correctly displays all previously entered selections. The sender then simply verifies the information, makes any necessary changes and selects or “clicks” a button on the Web services to retransmit the fax or scan documents. In another embodiment, the sender is given an option to reformat a scan job by compressing or changing job parameters of the scan job.

Abstract: A system and a method of processing faxes are disclosed. The method includes receiving image data that includes a plurality of pages to be transmitted by a first fax device coupled to a fax transmission network. Page number information is encoded in a field of a fax transmission. The fax transmission, including the image data and encoded page number information, is transmitted to a second fax device coupled to the fax transmission network. Whether all pages of the fax transmission are received is determined, based on the transmitted page number information. When fewer than all pages of the fax transmission are received, the received pages of the image data are withheld at the second fax device. When all pages have been received, the pages are concatenated for printing without interruption.

Abstract: A method of analyzing the quality of a communication network for facsimile devices, wherein the communication network comprises at least a first facsimile device communicating through a digital network and a second facsimile device communicating through an analog network. The method comprises establishing a connection between the facsimile devices using the communication network, assessing a configuration of the connection between the facsimile devices, identifying at least one problem in the connection between the facsimile devices, and generating a network diagnostic report of the at least one identified problem. A network diagnostic report may be delivered to a user interface. Bits of the facsimile information fields (FIF) of the digital identification signal (DIS) and non-standard facilities (NSF) signal of the second facsimile device are compared to analyze problems with the communication network.

When acting as a receiving gateway, the gateway modulates a DCN signal detected and sends the modulated DCN signal to a receiving facsimile machine; if a switching command issued by a Soft Switch is received during sending the DCN signal, the gateway delays the switching; if the gateway has not received a switching command after the DCN data is sent, the gateway initiatively reports a fax end event.

Abstract: A method and communication system is provided to identify a calling/called party when the call is being set up but before the call is answered. In the method, a first terminal and a second terminal are respectively provided with opposing terminal's image data before the call is answered. The image data of the first and second terminals can be registered in a media server disposed between the first and second terminals, and the image data can be transmitted between the first terminal and the media server and between the second terminal and the media server in accordance with an SIP protocol.
