Abstract: A method for projecting a user interface of an application program provided for a screen of a mobile device is provided onto a screen of an infotainment system arranged in a vehicle. The user interface can be displayed in a manner suitable for the driver of the vehicle if the screen size of the infotainment system is determined in the infotainment system. The screen size is transferred to the mobile device via a data interface, the user interface size of the application program running in the mobile device in the unit of the comparable size is determined in the mobile device. The screen size of the infotainment system is compared with the user interface size of the application program and a decision is made on the basis of the comparison, which image data is transferred from the mobile device to the infotainment system via the data interface.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to improve user friendliness of the box function. In a system having a storage means capable of storing data in a plurality of data storage boxes including first and second boxes, when the first job data transmitted without performing any predetermined operation by the user in the data generation apparatus is stored in the storage means, acceptance of a process request for the first job data from the first user via the first display associated with the first box on a user interface is permitted. When the second job data transmitted after performing the predetermined operation by the user is stored in the storage means, acceptance of a process request for the second job data from the first user via the first display associated with the first box on the user interface is permitted. In addition, acceptance of a process request for the second job data from the second user via the second display associated with the second box on the user interface is permitted.

Abstract: A method for proactively creating an image product includes storing a library of specification terms for image products by a computer system, receiving a command from a user, tokenizing the command into a plurality of tokens by the computer system, matching one or more of the tokens to the specification terms in the library to determine specification parameters for an image product by the computer system, automatically identifying images based on the specification parameters by the computer system, and automatically creating a design for the image product that incorporates at least some of the images identified based on the specification parameters.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling access to digital assets in an online media sharing system based on keywords are provided. In general, each digital asset is tagged with a number of keywords. The owner of the digital assets defines a guest list including a number of guests. For each guest, the owner defines permissions controlling the guest's access to the digital assets based on keywords. Thereafter, when a request to view the digital assets is received from a guest node associated with one of the guests, the digital assets that the guest is permitted to view are identified based on the permissions assigned to the guest and provided to the guest at the guest node.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, there is provided a facsimile apparatus connected to a home gateway, which is connected to an IP telephone network, via a communication line, the facsimile apparatus including a facsimile-signal detecting section configured to detect a facsimile identification signal in an incoming signal and a controller configured to instruct, when the facsimile identification signal is not detected in the incoming signal, using an SIP, the home gateway to perform a transfer operation for connecting a telephone set connected to the home gateway and a telephone set on an outgoing call side connected to the IP telephone network.

An apparatus for measuring Quality of Service (QoS) of Fax over Internet Protocol (FoIP) calls includes: a FoIP packet monitoring module to monitor in real-time Internet Protocol (IP) network streams exchanged between a FoIP emitter device and a FoIP receiver device; a FoIP equipment evaluator to evaluate real-time performance of at least one of: the FoIP emitter device, and the FoIP receiver device; and a FoIP call QoS evaluator to evaluate in real time a FoIP call QoS quality of a FoIP communication between said FoIP emitter device and said FoIP receiver device.

Abstract: A fax to E-mail system and related method are shown, whereby a hardcopy document is sent via a fax device to its recipient via electronic mail through a data network, and is delivered in such a manner that it can be retrieved by the recipient at an E-mail device and displayed on the screen of the E-mail device. The document begins as a hardcopy, as an electronic file retrieved through E-mail recipient's terminal and displayed on the computer screen of the E-mail recipient's terminal. The system and method also provides for an interface device which connects to a conventional fax device for communicating E-mail addresses and routing hardcopy documents to the E-mail network, and provides a means for embedding the functions of the interface device into conventional fax devices. The system can also be used in cooperation with Internet Web service for reporting, accounting, information services, and user interaction.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for switching service process and a media server, wherein the method for switching the service process comprises: after a first service process performed together with a facsimile terminal is completed, and when a message, which is sent by an application server and which indicates to carry out a second service process, is received by a media server, the media server switching from the first service process to the second service process; and the facsimile terminal switching from the first service process to the second service process. Therefore, the switching of the facsimile is not limited by the switching control requirements of the media gateway, which is favorable for flexible expansion and interconnection of the facsimile services.

The real-time nature of the communication is ensured by preestablishing a communication session between a transfer client and a transfer server, between which the firewall or other restriction element is located. Following the preestablishment of the communication session, transmission control messages are exchanged between the transfer server and the transfer client via the preestablished communication session. The preestablished communication session prevents the firewall or other restriction element from blocking or delaying traffic (e.g., fax, voice, video traffic). The preestablished communication session establishes a full duplex communication link without restriction of or by the firewall or other communication restriction element.

The image reading device includes a pull scanning section that reads an original sheet on the basis of preset reading settings and transmits the image data of the read original sheet to a terminal device when the pull scanning section receives a read command from the terminal device; a storage section that stores the reading settings; and a push scanning section that reads the original sheet on the basis of reading settings selected from among the reading settings stored in the storage section and transmits the image data of the read original sheet to the terminal device when the terminal device is specified as a destination device and the push scanning section is instructed to read the original sheet.

Abstract: Timers involved in facsimile transmissions under the T.30 specification are permitted to adapt to a given situation to improve the chances for successful facsimile transmission over high latency communication networks. The specified T1 through T5 timers for facsimile transmission may be modified in value based on call control related parameters or facsimile transport related parameters. The timers may be set to have a particular range, with a nominal base value and a maximum value, which may exceed the T.30 timer specification. The adaptive timers can be modified based on a number of different criteria related to facsimile transmissions to avoid overlapping command-response situations and stalemates that may result from communications in relatively highly latency networks. The timers may also be adapted to minimize or optimize call length while achieving successful facsimile transmissions.

Abstract: Settings for various options in image processing jobs may be restricted or otherwise limited based on the settings for corresponding or different options selected in preceding image processing jobs. In one example, a user may wish to join a preceding job and a subsequent job into a single job for processing at one time. In such an example, the settings defined for options in the preceding job may affect selectable options or settings in the subsequent job. According to one aspect, multiple preceding jobs to be joined to a current subsequent job may have conflicting settings. Accordingly, a user may be requested to select one of the preceding jobs or one of the conflicting options to use for the subsequent job and the joint job.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus for receiving a printing instruction of image data and forming an image according to the printing instruction includes a wireless communication device, an input unit, and a connector storage portion. The wireless communication device is disposed at a body of the image forming apparatus and has a cable and an output connector. The input unit has a wireless connection port to connect the output connector via the cable and a wired connection port to connect a wired cable from an external device. The input unit receives a printing instruction from any one of the wireless connection port and the wired connection port. Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for sending and receiving facsimile transmissions in a voice-over-IP system. In certain embodiments, a facsimile machine may include a network interface and a call set up protocol client configured to interface with a call set up protocol server. The call set up protocol client may communicate with the call set up protocol server using the network interface to establish a communication channel with the public switched telephone network. The call set up protocol client may operate according to the session initiation protocol. The facsimile machine may be configured to send and receive facsimile transmissions according to the T.30 protocol. In alternative embodiments, the facsimile machine may be configured to send and receive facsimile transmissions according to the T.38 protocol.

Abstract: A network scanner, communication protocols, and client and server programs and are provided which provide an improved way to transmit legally binding documents, obviating the need for outmoded, legacy fax transmissions. Using the network scanner, a document may be scanned and transferred directly into any shared folder inbox residing on any computer attached to the Internet. Enhanced server systems and network communications and messaging protocols are provided that are more practical to use than email for sending documents such as executed legal documents or other documents requiring robust integrity and authenticatability. Similarly, the inventive network scanner, server systems and communication protocols provide improved ways to perform large file transfers and to manage bandwidth to minimize problems associated with uploading/downloading large files as attachments to/from email servers and for enabling user control over VoIP quality during file transmission sessions.

Abstract: The document management system assigns property information of a scanned document when transmitting the scanned document from an MFP to a document management server PC, and stores history information related to the transmission job in a memory. Further, the MFP, on receipt of incorrectness information related to property information from the document management server PC, adds the incorrectness information to the history information. Thereafter, when a user logs into the MFP, the MFP determines whether incorrectness information is included in history information having the same user ID as a user ID of the user, and if incorrectness information is included, displays a modification screen for modifying incorrect property information. Further, once the property information has been modified via the modification screen, the MFP transmits the modified information to the document management server PC, and causes information managed by the document management server PC to be updated.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image reading system and an image reading apparatus with which an environment for performing a specific scan mode can be constructed with ease according to the functions of connected information processing apparatuses and the scan environment can be changed with ease, and control methods and programs thereof. To accomplish this, the image reading apparatus selects an information processing apparatus to which image data read from an original is to be transmitted, transmits identification information for identifying the image reading apparatus stored in advance in a memory and an instruction to construct an environment for performing the specific scan mode to the selected information processing apparatus, receives a response to the transmitted instruction, and, when the response is received, displays a setting screen in which settings regarding the environment for performing the specific scan mode can be changed on a display.

Abstract: The present invention includes methods and devices for passively tracking and selectively sharing user experiences with communication devices, including computers, web-enabled telephones, and PDAs.
