Patent number: 7333677Abstract: The present invention provides a high-precision alignment method, device and code for inspections that compare an inspection image with a reference image and detect defects from their differences. In one embodiment an inspection image and a reference image are divided into multiple regions. An offset is calculated for each pair of sub-images. Out of these multiple offsets, only the offsets with high reliability are used to determine an offset for the entire image. This allows high-precision alignment with little or no dependency on pattern density or shape, differences in luminance between images, and uneven luminance within individual images. Also, detection sensitivity is adjusted as necessary by monitoring alignment precision.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2006Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Kaoru Sakai, Shunji Maeda, Takafumi Okabe

Patent number: 7308155Abstract: In case of a “N-up” function, a correcting unit executes a correcting process operation with respect to an image read by an image input unit, a editing unit executes a magnification changing process operation, and thereafter, “N” sheets of images are placed side by side to form a single synthesized image at a time when the processed image is stored into a storage unit 15. When transmitting the synthesized image, an attribute of the image set from a U/I is added to the synthesized image and the control unit transmits the resulting image to an external apparatus. As a result, a reception side can execute an optimum processing operation with respect to the synthesized image with reference to the attribute added to the image. As a consequence, even in a “network copy”, the “N-up” function can be realized in a high image quality similar to that of a “direct copy”.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2002Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshihiro Terada

Patent number: 7280707Abstract: Images may be registered using temporal (time-based) and spatial information. In a film implementation, because film is a sequence of frames, using information from neighboring frames may enable a temporally smoother visual experience. Distortion measures may be used that discount candidate transformations that are considered to be too far from one or more preferred transformations, such as, for example, an optimal transformation from another frame or block or a currently-optimal transformation from the same frame/block. Composite color images may be processed to provide registration of underlying components.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2006Date of Patent: October 9, 2007Assignees: AOL LLC, Warner Bros. Patent number: 7123388Abstract: An image processing apparatus for correction on mounting shifts among sensor chips in a contact image sensor. The apparatus has plural sensor chips each having plural pixels, arrayed in a main scanning direction, and a correction device which performs correction on a shift in the main scanning direction and/or a subscanning direction between adjacent sensor chips in a signal outputted from the plural sensor chips. The correction device performs different processing in a first sensor chip interval and a second sensor chip interval.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2002Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Yukichika Ichihashi

Patent number: 7110146Abstract: In a data converting apparatus, a data converting part converts a set of input data into a set of image data that can be processed by an image forming apparatus forming an image on a medium in accordance with the set of image data and a superimposing part superimposes at least two sets of image data converted from at least two different sets of input data so as to generate a single set of superimposed image data. By sending the single set of superimposed image data to the image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus can form an image on the medium based on the single set of superimposed image data.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2000Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hironori Morito, Kohki Yahisa, Junko Komine, Mika Terai, Hideki Kawamoto, Akira Higashino

Patent number: 7110137Abstract: A system and process for generating and using mixed raster content files is described. MRC files may be created directly from an application, rather than being processed from a composite image, to separate a single image into background, foreground, and selection masks for each page. Also, an improved MRC structure is described in which only relevant portions are contained in background, foreground, and selection layers for each page.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2002Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Henry W. Patent number: 7103232Abstract: Each of the panoramic images corresponding to a plurality of positions of a viewpoint is compressed and stored as partial images obtained by dividing each panoramic image by a predetermined field of view. The panoramic image has a field of view wider than a display field of view of an image to be displayed on a display unit. A partial image containing an image to be reproduced is selected based on the information about the position and the direction of a viewpoint and the display field of view, and an image corresponding to the position and the direction of a viewpoint is generated and displayed from the selected partial image. Thus, when virtual space in the walk-through system is designed using the IBR technology, stored image data can be efficiently reproduced.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Daisuke Kotake, Akihiro Katayama

Patent number: 7099050Abstract: A multi-function machine for combining and routing image data is disclosed. The multi-function machine includes a number of functional units, for instance, a digital copier which produces scanned image data, a printer which prints image data from a computer, and a facsimile device which receives and sends facsimile image data. Image data from one or a number of sources may be combined to form merged image data, corresponding to a merger of the individual images. The merged image data may then be conveyed to any of a number of user selectable destinations, including a printer, a host computer, or a facsimile device.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2004Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Assignees: Ricoh Company, Ltd., Ricoh CorporationInventor: Tetsuro Motoyama

Patent number: 7092132Abstract: The purpose of obtaining a high resolution image with fewer number of image sensings in an image input device which allocates a planar object such as a document or the like into a plurality of areas for image sensing, and combines the obtained image data for output to a printer or display device or the like. An image reading device using an area sensor as an image sensing element 30 which is stationary in an image sensing unit 14 facing the center of a document 1 on a table 11, and a taking lens 31 moves parallel to the document 1 and the image sensing element 30 to read the images of allocated sections A˜I of the document 1.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2001Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventor: Shinya Matsuda

Patent number: 7079129Abstract: An inexpensive and simple circuit for improving the quality of a dynamic image, with appropriate, flexible dynamic image qualities processing, even with plural input signal sources. A memory unit has a region for storing images of at least one screen, and a memory control unit for writing image data to the memory unit on the basis of a first clock and a first image synchronizing signal and for outputting image data read out from the memory unit on the basis of a second clock and a second image synchronizing signal. A clock generating unit provides the second clock, and a synchronizing control unit inputs the second clock and outputs the second image synchronizing signal. The synchronizing control unit generates one signal asynchronous to the first image synchronizing signal, by dividing the second clock, and another that is and synchronized with the first synchronizing signal, by using the second clock, and selects one of the signals it has produced to be output as the second image synchronizing signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kazuyuki Shigeta
