Abstract: A monitoring system presents metrics or event data by monitoring state information of a computing system. In an embodiment, the monitoring system includes one or more processors that receive state information from an agent executing on the computing system. The state information describes a component of the computing system. In response to receiving the state information, the monitoring system generates aggregate state information based on the state information and prior state information previously received from the agent. The state information and prior state information may correspond to the same time period. The monitoring system generates subscribed state information from the aggregate state information. The subscribed state information is a subset of the aggregate state information selected using instructions of a client. The monitoring system sends the subscribed state information to the client to cause an update in a user interface presented by the client.

Metadata is implicitly associated with user profiles, activity entities, expressions, or other data entities based on user behavior using metadata collector. A metadata collector is a poll, survey, list, questionnaire, census, test, game, or other type of presentation adapted to solicit user interaction. A metadata collector is associated with metadata elements. When users interact with a metadata collector, their user profiles and the data entities included in their interactions become associated with the metadata elements of the metadata collector. A request to edit a scan image that was acquired through an input apparatus is received and an editing user interface area that includes an editing version of the scan image and at least one functional icon is displayed. After selection of the editing version of the scan image, user input is received moving the editing version of the scan image to a predetermined area of the editing user interface area that corresponds to a functional icon. The editing version of the scan image is converted into text data, a function associated with the functional icon is determined, and the converted text data is used in the determined function associated with the functional icon.

  • Patent number: 8953905
Abstract: Movies to be colorized/depth enhanced (2D?3D) are broken into backgrounds/sets or motion/onscreen-action. Background and motion elements are combined into composite frame which becomes a visual reference database that includes data for all frame offsets used later for the computer controlled application of masks within a sequence of frames. Masks are applied to subsequent frames of motion objects based on various differentiating image processing methods, including automated mask fitting/reshaping. Colors/depths are automatically applied with masks throughout a scene from the composite background and to motion objects. Areas never exposed by motion or foreground objects may be partially or fully realistically drawn/rendered/applied to the occluded areas and applied throughout the images to generate artifact-free secondary viewpoints during 2D?3D conversion.

  • Patent number: 8928941
Abstract: An image processing apparatus prints an image without streaks on a medium. A receiving section receives base color image data and non-base color image data. A detecting section detects a boundary between a first area in which the base color image is printed and a second area which surrounds the first area and no image is printed therein. A correction section performs correction on the image data to generate one of a third area defined in a peripheral portion of the first area and a fourth area which is defined in a peripheral portion of the second area and is contiguous to the first area. A smaller amount of base color toner is consumed in the third and fourth area than in the first area. A printing section prints an image on a medium in accordance with the corrected base color image data and the non-base color image data.

  • Publication number: 20150002915
Abstract: An adaptive and selective scanning method, particularly for identifying and authenticating identification cards, is disclosed herein. The present invention evolved from a trend of more intricate security features configured to modern ID cards motivating more sophisticated counterfeits. These intricate features would typically require higher resolution (therefore large electronic files) and increased scanning times that would be unworkable in many environments where scan time is very important, such as airport security. Essentially, the method comprises multiple timely passes where specific target data is obtained. Initial ID card passes are concentrated to magnetic strip, as well as one and two dimensional barcode information. Subsequent card passes are focused to high resolution images of a specific portion of the card thereby reducing scan time.

Abstract: A technology that enables accurate position specification on an image displayed on a screen to perform processing and correction of the image data is provided. When the image is printed on a sheet on which a dot pattern is printed, a reference point of the image on the display device is set and the reference point is printed in a visible mark together with the image. This mark is imaged with an imaging means, and calibration is performed in which position coordinates of the marks on the sheet and the reference points of the image are matched, thereby preventing variation in coordinates between designation made on the sheet with the imaging means and processing on the image.

Abstract: Some embodiments produce an image capture application that implements a novel auto scan feature. The auto scan feature directs a scanner to perform an initial scan and then decomposes the scanned document into component regions. Some embodiments then identify a set of attributes of each region from the initial scan, select a set of optimal scanning parameters for each region based on the identified set of attributes, and then direct the scanner to perform a detailed secondary scan of each region with the identified set of scanning parameters. Following the secondary scan, some embodiments perform post-scan operations on the image of the scanned region.
