Automatically Adjustable In Response To Vehicle Position, Control, Or Indicator Patents (Class 359/843)
  • Patent number: 11833969
Abstract: In general, techniques are described by which a computing system dynamically and automatically adjusts an orientation of one or more mirrors of a vehicle. A computing system includes at least one processor and memory. The memory includes instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to determine a current orientation of a mirror of a vehicle and determine a preferred orientation of the mirror based upon a set of data points. Execution of the instructions also causes the at least one processor to output a command to adjust the mirror to the preferred orientation in response to determining the current orientation is not the preferred orientation.

Abstract: The door mirror for an automobile including a light diffusing section disposed between the side object detection symbols and the first and second LEDs. Relative dispositions between the side object detection symbols and the first and second LEDs are such that the optical axis of the first LED intersects with a host vehicle display section and the optical axis of the second LED intersects with an other vehicle display section. The relative dispositions enable uniform illumination of the side object detection symbols using the two LEDs. Furthermore, the optical axis of the first LED intersects with a light non-transmissive portion of the host vehicle display section and the optical axis of the second LED intersects with a light non-transmissive portion of the other vehicle display section.

Abstract: Vehicle control system and method in which restrictions on travel of the vehicle are determined based on an indication of the visibility of a driver and information about objects moving in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the vehicle are considered. The travel restrictions include preventing a passing maneuver on a two-lane road when an oncoming vehicle precludes safely initiating or completing an already-initiated passing maneuver. A warning system is provided to warn a driver about the travel restrictions so that the driver will, hopefully, not attempt an unsafe maneuver.
