  • Patent number: 8701310
Abstract: A flexible footwear covering that fits on a shoe, which has a lower coefficient of friction than the bottom of a shoe allowing for ease of motion on carpeted or other surfaces where the grip of the shoes worn inhibit movement. The covering is in the general shape of a sock with a non retractable or retractable ring, which lies within the arch of the bottom of the shoe giving the option to leave fully covered for maximum ease of movement or expose the heel for more traction when needed. In addition, the flexible footwear covering can be used as a fitness tool with or without the optional design of reinforced panels that are positioned at the toe, ball and/or heel on the outside of the shoe. With the reinforced panels, a variety of exercises can be done to strengthen various muscles of the upper and lower body in a supine or prone position.

  • Patent number: 6981340
Abstract: A device for protecting footwear of a motorcycle rider comprises a sole of a water impermeable material, an upper of bodily flexible material and an adjustable strap for securing the device to footwear of the rider. The device is typically worn on the left foot of the rider because motorcycle transmissions are shifted by the left foot, leaving a characteristic wear pattern on the left shoe or boot of the rider. The upper allows substantial air movement around the rider's footwear and may be partially or wholly insulated with a foam layer in the upper. Some embodiments provide greater air circulation and less insulation. Two types of adjustable straps are shown.

  • Publication number: 20040035026
Abstract: A track and field shoe has spikes extending outwardly from a forward portion of an outsole of the shoe. A shoe cover provides a bottom plate resting in contact with the forward portion of the outsole of the shoe and has a similar peripheral shape. The shoe cover further includes an elastic clamping fabric engaged on three mutual edges peripherally with the bottom plate. A fourth mutual peripheral edge of the clamping fabric and the bottom plate forms an opening into the shoe cover for accepting a tip of the shoe inserted into it upon stretching the clamping fabric. A hem in the clamping fabric extends parallel and adjacent to the fourth peripheral edge and terminates with a hem seam. The hem seam has a maximum elastic yield below that of the clamping fabric. This is critical as it allows the clamping fabric to stretch to fit a wide range of shoes, while enabling the hem seam to fit more tightly around the tip of the shoe applying a clamping force.
