Head Urging Detail Patents (Class 360/241.3)
  • Patent number: 8934187
Abstract: A magnetic head is arranged between two reels around which a magnetic tape is wound and contacts one side of the magnetic tape spanned between the two reels. A driver moves the magnetic head. A controller causes the driver to generate a driving force for pressing the magnetic head against the one side of the magnetic tape while keeping the magnetic head in contact with the magnetic tape. It is possible to cause the magnetic head to stably contact the magnetic tape even when the running position of the magnetic tape varies in accordance with the winding state of the magnetic tape around the reel.

  • Patent number: 8711521
Abstract: A suspension for a head gimbal assembly includes a flexure having a laminated structure including a substrate layer, an insulating layer formed on the substrate layer, and a conducting layer formed on the insulating layer. And first bonding pads are formed on the conducting layer at a first surface of the flexure, so as to electrically connect with a slider via solder balls, and second bonding pads are formed on the substrate layer at a second surface of the flexure opposite to the first surface, so as to electrically connect with extra components formed at the second surface via solder balls. The suspension can connect slider and other extra components at two opposite surfaces of the flexure with a simplified and compacted structure and a reduced cost.

  • Patent number: 6388844
Abstract: Disclosed is a head base shift mechanism in an auto-reverse cassette tape recorder comprising a motor (2); a chassis (1) with a pair of capstans (41), (41′) rotatable in forward and reverse directions; a head base (15) slidably mounted on the chassis and carrying at least a head (16) substantially at a center of the head base; a pair of pinch rollers (17), (17′) for forward play and reverse play arranged in a substantially symmetric design at opposite sides of the head; spring means (23) for biasing the head base toward a stand-by position remote from a tape running plane (T) defined by and between the capstans; a pair of engagement members (272), (272′) engageable with the head base at a point offset from a center line (X) of the chassis; and rotation transmission means (10) for moving one of the engagement members, selected depending upon the direction of rotation of the motor, while in engagement with the head base at the offset point, thereby moving the head base from the stand-by positi

  • Patent number: 6335839
Abstract: A magnetic head device for reading and recording information from a magnetic recording section of a photographic film has a recording head and a playback head. The playback head and recording head are adjacently positioned by a head base plate. The head base plate rotatably supports the recording head and playback head as the head base plate rotates about a first rotation shaft and a second rotation shaft. The first rotation shaft extends in a direction of the film defined by movement of the film as film is wound onto a winding spool within a film cartridge. The second rotation shaft extends in a width direction of the film, perpendicular to the first rotation shaft. As a result the recording head and playback head make contact with the film to improve consistency of the playback and reading of information from the magnetic section of the film.
