  • Patent number: 6883091
Abstract: The time required to boot a computer is reduced by reducing or eliminating the need to discover many or all devices within the computer and the machine topology. Access panels are monitored so that it is detected when they are opened. For the access panels that have not been opened, it is assumed that the system configuration, topology, devices, etc. have not changed since the last boot process and there is no need to spend time discovering these devices and machine topology. Stored, instead of discovered, configuration information is then used to configure these devices. This reduces the time required to boot since discovery of devices is not performed. A service processor or other logic may be used to detect which access panels are opened. Also, only those elements of the configuration that may be affected by the particular access panels that were opened need to be re-discovered.

  • Patent number: 6069321
Abstract: A device for attaching busbars of square or rectangular cross section on a support rail using electrically non-conducting support elements, which can be connected with the support rail and form a busbar receptacle adapted to the cross section of the busbar. With a simple fastener, assembly is considerably simplified because two post-shaped supports per busbar can be attached as support elements on the support rail, wherein spacing between the supports is matched to the width of the busbar and a height is matched to the thickness of the busbar. A base plate is arranged between the two supports, which insulates the busbar receptacle against the support rail and which is captively held between the holders. The ends of the supports facing away from the support rail can be closed by a strip.

  • Patent number: 5995362
Abstract: A support and electrical power supply device comprises a mounting plate supporting an electrical switchgear apparatus and housing branch conductors extending perpendicularly to a busbar. The branch conductors present identical lengths. The connection strips are arranged close to the opposite terminal parts of the branch conductors and comprise orifices arranged symmetrically with respect to the horizontal midplane of the mounting plate to enable fitting of the connection parts with the lineside terminals or the loadside terminals of the switchgear apparatus. Two connection possibilities of the switchgear apparatus are possible at the time of installation to achieve a lineside or a loadside power supply. The same mounting plate can also be used for supply of a single switchgear apparatus or of two switchgear apparatuses with opposite feeders.

  • Patent number: 5973914
Abstract: An attachment for attaching a main circuit breaker in an electrical panel has a uniquely constructed hold-down for the circuit breaker and a headed screw for fastening the hold-down in the panel. The hold-down is a non-electrically conductive part, such as a plastic. A circuit-breaker-engaging projection for engaging a circuit breaker projects from a first side of the hold-down body and a gripping tab projects from a second side of the body opposite the first side. A shank of the headed screw passes through a through-hole in the hold-down body to thread into a hole in a base pan. The screw is tightened against the hold-down body to hold it, and in turn the main circuit breaker, in place. In such an installed condition, the main circuit breaker cannot be removed easily from the panel unless the screw is intentionally unscrewed by a tool sufficiently to allow movement of the hold-down to a position that enables the main circuit breaker to be removed.

  • Patent number: 5920456
Abstract: A bonding screw is pre-assembled in a distribution panel in a non-bonding position that does not bond a neutral bar within the panel enclosure to the enclosure wall. This allows an installer of the panel to select between the option of maintaining the bonding screw in the pre-assembled non-bonding position and the option of positioning the bonding screw from non-bonding position to a bonding position. A basepan is disposed within the enclosure between the neutral bar and the enclosure's back wall. The non-bonding position is defined by the screw shank thread having a threaded engagement with a through-hole in a basepan, the head of the bonding screw being spaced from the neutral bar, and the shank of the bonding screw being spaced from the enclosure's back wall. The bonding position is defined by the head of the electrically conductive part being disposed against the neutral bar and the shank being threaded into an extruded hole in the enclosure's back wall.

Abstract: A control and panel assembly using a thin dielectric carrier strip upon which a sheet of conductive material is adhesively attached. The conductive sheet is perforated to form an array of spaced parallel discrete conductors. The conductors are initially formed as interconnected by transverse webs which are frangibly removed after attachment to the carrier. Individual stand up connectors are then attached to each of the conductors to form a carrier sub-assembly and the terminals are inserted through slots in a dielectric deck plate. Individual user actuated control components are then plugged directly into the terminals with user actuated shafts or levers extending through deck plate and carrier strip.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mounting system for circuit breakers in an electrical panelboard assembly. The base and cover forming the circuit breaker casing has an integral foot extending from a bottom side. The foot is angled and has a notch on a side forming an acute angle with the bottom. The panelboard assembly has a bus cover adapted with a opening or opening to receive the foot. This secures the circuit breaker on one end, and a screw into a bus secures the circuit breaker on an opposing end. The bus cover has a rail which engages the notch in the foot. On an opposing side of the foot, a spring engages the foot and forces the foot into the rail. The spring is an integral part of the bus cover and is cantilevered at an angle to the main body of the bus cover. Ledges are formed integrally into the bus cover on opposing sides of the spring. The ledges prevent overstressing the spring while inserting the foot during installation of the circuit breaker.
