  • Patent number: 7187560
Abstract: A circuit board assembly has an attached support assembly. The support assembly includes a support, such as a handle, and a lip substantially perpendicular to the support. The lip strengthens the support such that, as a cable exerts a load on the support assembly, the lip limits deflection of the support relative to the circuit board assembly. In the case where a cable having a cable connector attaches to a port of the circuit board assembly, the support assembly minimizes displacement of the cable connector relative to the port, thereby minimizing the potential for a break in electrical connections formed between the connector and the port. The support assembly also, in such a case, minimizes strain on a wire bundle and over-molded case forming the cable, thereby limiting damage to the over-molded case and disconnection of the wire bundle to the connector that leads to losses in electrical connections formed between the circuit board assembly and computer devices connected to the circuit board assembly.

  • Patent number: 6879941
Abstract: A process for designing a cable wiring path, or producing a cable interconnection layout in the form of one or more cable bundles is proposed, wherein electrical, electromagnetic and mechanical incompatibles of proposed changes can be detected early and overcome as necessary, in certain cases by multiple iterative checking and changing of transmission line paths within a mechanical structure. By data exchange between specialized programs for mechanical characteristics on the one hand and electrical characteristics on the other hand and, in certain cases, multiple data dialogs, a cable harness in the form of one or more cable bundles can be designed in short time taking into consideration the two very different types of requirements.

Abstract: A management system for wiring and/or cabling is disclosed. The wire management system comprises a mounting stud and an integral cable guide assembly. The cable guide assembly may include a base portion and an upper portion with at least two guide members that may be removably mounted to the mounting stud. The at least two guide members of the cable guide assembly orientates the wiring and/or cabling in a generally vertical direction with respect to a heat emitting device so as to minimize the surface area of the wiring and/or cabling that is exposed to a heat emitting device, thereby minimizing heat buildup within an enclosure. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 6854605
Abstract: A rack for an electronics assembly may have a supporting frame and a slider mechanism with a first part that is supported by the frame and a second part that supports the electronics assembly. The slider mechanism may be configured to allow the assembly to be moved out of the rack. The rack may further include a cable management system for supporting cables located at the rear of the assembly. The cable management system may have an articulated arm with a first end coupled to the assembly and a second end coupled to the first part of the slider mechanism so that bending of the arm accommodates movement of the electronics assembly. The cable management system may allow the assembly to be pulled out of the rack by the required distance irrespective of the depth of the rack.

  • Patent number: 6839244
Abstract: A retainer for securing wires in a locatable position in a ceiling or wall structure after the structure has been shut in. The retainer has a mounting surface with terminals to which the wires are attached. The terminals are each connected to conductive path so that a signal applied to the opposite ends of the wire can be sensed by a tone generator. The retainer has wins or tabs securable to the framing members prior to being walled-in. A magnetic locator on the mounting surface allows a technician to accurately locate a center point for cutting an opening to receive a device such as a sound system speaker.

Abstract: An electrical wiring structure is provided which can be formed simultaneously when non-linear elements containing corrosion resistant metal wires and non-corrosion resistant metal wires are formed. In addition, a manufacturing method of the electrical wiring structure, an electro-optical device substrate provided with the electrical wiring structure, an electro-optical device, and a manufacturing method thereof are also provided. In particular, an oxide layer and the non-corrosion resistant metal wire are sequentially formed on a surface of the corrosion resistant metal wire. An exposed portion of the corrosion resistant metal wire is formed by removing part of the oxide layer. An electrical connection auxiliary member, such as a through-hole formed at the exposed portion or a conductive inorganic oxide film formed on the corrosion resistant metal wire and the exposed portion, is formed to electrically connect the corrosion resistant metal wire and the non-corrosion resistant metal wire.

  • Patent number: 6823063
Abstract: The present invention relates to telecommunications equipment racks including vertical cable guides, horizontal troughs, cross aisle panels and cross-connection modules for telecommunications equipment racks. The vertical cable guides define vertical cable channels for both network infrastructure and cross-connection cables. The structure defining the second cable channel is hingedly attached to the structure defining the first cable channel. The horizontal cable troughs include both upper and lower troughs. The upper cable trough defines two cableways for directing cross-connection and other cables, and provides access openings for cables to pass into and out of each cableway and between the two cableways. The lower cable trough defines a cableway and provides access openings for cables extending into and out of the cableway. Cable troughs attached to adjacently mounted equipment racks cooperate to form continuous horizontal cableways.
