Abstract: Herein is described an invention that efficiently detects and reports vehicle impact with fixed or temporary roadway safety devices. A multitude of sensors may report road events via a single cellular or fiber optic gateway thereby substantially reducing acquisition and recurring cost. The use of a mesh network to connect these sensors provides low duty cycle monitoring. Extremely low-power circuitry that allows for multi-year battery life of small, light-weight solar photovoltaic panel is achievable through precise node-to-node timing. Radio transmission and reception is limited to a few milliseconds in each second. The novel mesh network architecture does not utilize an external coordinating signal, timing signal, or connection. Synchrony is maintained internal to the mesh network. Duty cycles of less than approximately 0.01% are achievable.

Abstract: This light flux control member comprises a first (second) light flux control member. The first light flux control member comprises an entry region including a Fresnel lens portion and an entry surface; an exit surface; and a reflective surface. The reflective surface is a rotationally symmetric surface with the central axis of the first light flux control member as the rotation axis. The reflective surface is formed such that the generatrix of the reflective surface is a concave curve relative to the entry surface and the outer peripheral portion of the reflective surface is distanced farther from an orthogonal plane compared to the inner peripheral portion thereof in a direction that follows an optical axis, which is the center of the total light flux of at least one light-emitting element, said orthogonal plane passing through an arbitrary point on the entry surface and being orthogonal to the optical axis.

Abstract: A concealer plate for a lighting fixture includes a first concealer plate surface, a second concealer plate surface, and two or more magnets. The magnets are recessed in the first concealer plate surface such that the magnets are inset from the first concealer plate surface by approximately a predetermined depth. Each one of the magnets is configured to magnetically engage one of a number of fasteners protruding from a mounting portion of a trim of the lighting fixture by a distance that is approximately equal to the predetermined depth. Accordingly, the second concealer plate surface hides the fasteners from view. The concealer plate hides one or more fasteners exposed on the lighting fixture while avoiding any interference in the operation of the lighting fixture and is easily installed onto currently existing lighting fixtures.

  • Patent number: 9797566
Abstract: A street lighting apparatus, and method of generating illumination, designed to provide illumination without the use of an electrical grid, is described. The illumination device is designed to have a first component configured to generate power for a second component, wherein the second component powers one or more functional elements, such as an LED or camera. The first component relies on at least one photovoltaic panel and solar power to electrically charge a first battery. The first battery is operatively coupled to a second component having a generator which is driven by a motor. The generator provides for an electrical charge to be stored in one or more batteries of a battery bank, thereby providing the necessary power utilized by the LED, camera, or other functional components.

Abstract: The traffic violation detection system includes a series of smart road studs embedded in the roadway acting as sensors for vehicles moving in the prohibited manner. The road studs have a refraction surface on their upper surfaces for reflecting light to a solar panel, or may have the solar panel without the refraction surface. When the road studs initially sense a violating moving vehicle, an alert is sounded to warn the driver. If the vehicle continues to move in violation, a camera system is activated. The camera system includes solar panels, a camera lens, a light emitting flash mechanism, a distance IR sensor, and controls, all positioned on top of a vertically movable, hydraulic cylinder. The camera assembly is normally hidden underground but will rise to record images when activated by the road stud system. The images are sent to a central monitoring unit in a traffic monitoring building.
