    Abstract: There is provided a fuel oil amount indicator of a measuring apparatus in which a lifetime of the indicator can be prolonged, maintenance work can be omitted, and visibility can always be improved. In the indicator of the invention, a plurality of light emitting elements are arrayed in a matrix form, and as the light emitting elements, high-luminance LEDs are used. An outside light sensor provided in the vicinity of the indicator detects brightness of outside light, and a light emission intensity of the light emitting elements is changed in accordance with the thus detected brightness. The light emitting elements have a plurality of luminous colors predetermined to correspond to a type of fuel oil. The indicator is provided with inclination means for inclining a display surface in response to an operation of an angle adjustment operating portion. The indicator is further provided with a diffusion plate for diffusing light to a front face of the light emitting elements.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for cycling power to a HID ballast and amp in order to reduce the possibility of arc tube rupture or non-passive end of life light source failure with a warning indicator indicating impending momentary power outage. The apparatus comprises a lamp, a ballast, and a microcontroller operable to generate a warning indicator after expiration of a pre-selected period of time. The warning indicator indicates termination of power to the lamp for a predetermined period of time, by alternatively dimming and increasing the light output of the lamp. After expiration of the pre-determined period of time, the microcontroller restores the power to the ballast. The above described process is repeated periodically in order to reduce the risk of arc tube rupture.

    Abstract: A drive mechanism for revolving the turret of a searchlight assembly. The turret is rotated in an oscillating manner over an arc of less than 360.degree.. It is particularly characterized by smooth reversal allowing the driving of a high inertia turret without rapid motor overload and failure as characterized by other prior art methods of driving such mechanisms. A partial cylindrical track is concentrically disposed about the axis of rotation and attached to the turret. In the preferred embodiment, a link chain is welded along the bottom of the track, being folded back on the ends in a tear-drop shape. A drive sprocket on a swing arm is held into engagement with the chain and driven by a constant speed motor. The sprocket alternately drives along the inside of the chain and the outside of the chain smoothly traversing between the positions around the tear-drop ends to cause a smooth deceleration and acceleration.
