Abstract: A light conversion package for a semiconductor light source includes a light conversion block, a substrate, and an interconnector. The light conversion block is positioned to receive incident light from the semiconductor light source and acts to convert the incident light to light having a different spectral distribution. The interconnector attaches the light conversion block to the substrate and limits a thermal resistance between the light conversion block and the substrate so that the substrate can efficiently sink heat from the light conversion block. The interconnector and the substrate together may still provide high reflectivity.

Abstract: A tubular luminaire efficiently utilizes the light of a line of high-brightness unlensed LEDs to reproduce the homogeneous appearance of a neon tube. The transparent tube has an annular cross-section suitable for cost-effective manufacturing by extrusion. The LEDs are mounted in a line on a circuit board that can be positioned either inside or outside the tube. Their light shines into a cylindrical groove, thereby entering within the material of the tube. Above the groove, the wall of the tube has a spiral shape that reflects the light laterally so that it stays within the annular tube for a considerable path length. Volume scattering by a low density of scattering inclusions causes the light to escape as a homogenous glow. Alternatively, mild surface scattering from the inside surface can be used.

Abstract: A liquid crystal module includes a rear frame, a U-shaped cold cathode tube and a cold cathode tube support member. The U-shaped cold cathode tube has a first straight tube portion, a second straight tube portion and a curved end portion that connects the first and second straight tube portions. The cold cathode tube support member has a mating component and an engaging component. The mating component restricts movements of the first straight tube portion in first and second directions of the rear frame relative to the rear frame. The engaging component restricts a movement of the second straight tube portion in the first direction of the rear frame relative to the rear frame. The engaging component supports the second straight tube portion for movement in the second direction of the rear frame relative to the rear frame.

Abstract: A luminaire, such as a lamp assembly or a floor lamp, umbrella, or planar or sheet-like like light emitting surface includes a conforming mechanism for selectively curving the light emitting surface. A convex profile will diffuse light while a concave profile will concentrate light, it being intended that the surface can be conformable up to a five inch (5?) radius of curvature in either direction. The light panel portions may be of the same color, or may be different colors that will result in different mixing of the light when made from different colors.

Abstract: Improvements in a lighting fixture where the lighting fixture uses inductive lighting technology or self ballasting lighting elements with one or a plethora of efficient light elements. The lighting fixture is used where high bay or low bay lighting may be used. The improvement includes a new installation or a retrofit installation. The kit allows a building or residence to use common wiring to secure to a socket. The socket allows for quick installation, upgrading, or replacement with inductive lighting elements. The adapter and the lighting fixture use common pieces that are interchangeable to reduce the number of unique components. The inductive lighting fixture further includes support components that provide structural rigidity to the assembly of components within the socket. The base may further include mounting for a reflective dome to focus or diffuse the light.

  • Patent number: 8002448
Abstract: The table lamp contains a lamp base and an extension tube plugged vertically into the lamp base. A curved transparent light tube is attached along its entire length to a parallel and also curved back cover. The combination is joined to a top end of the extension tube. Two light generation assemblies are provided at the two ends of the light tube, respectively, each sequentially composed of a lens, a lens ring, a light emitting diode, a power circuit, a heat dissipation plate, and a heat dissipation element. The light from the light emitting diodes is projected into the light tube and, with a reflection layer along the inner wall of the light tube, the light is uniformly reflected towards the area beneath the table lamp.

Abstract: The combined ballast apparatus provides dual function, as both slave ballast and emergency battery ballast, without the expense of a dual installation of ballast onto or into a light fixture. The apparatus is further designed for best efficiency in mounting and in service and removal. The mount holes and quick clips provide for installation to existing fixtures without the need for screwdrivers, for example. The quick connects allow the apparatus to be quickly plugged and unplugged from a light fixture, without having to strip wires and use wire nuts or the like. If equipped with the apparatus and needing a ballast change, the fixture is serviced in a matter of perhaps ΒΌ to ? the time previously required, without the litter.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a method of enhancing illumination by a variety of lamp types through the use of reflective technologies, for example, replacement of expensive high intensity density of mercury vapor lamps with low wattage fluorescent tubes having at least one and in some cases, up to three reflective surfaces for focusing otherwise lost light toward a target illumination area. Further, the placement of light sources at the focal point of said reflective surfaces aids in optimizing the amount of light focused in a desired direction.
