The housing has two polarity sensitive ends and is slidably coupled by sliding drums to two electrically conducting vertical rods located at each end of the housing, by adjustable couplings. The drums include locks for holding a vertical position on the rods. Machine screws having a smooth cylindrical belt under screw heads, pass through springed contacts, providing a horizontal axis of rotation for the housing to adjust the swath of light forward and rearward. The springed contacts electrically connect the vertical rods to the linear LED array. The vertical rods are secured to a solid surface and are electrically connectable to a power source.

Abstract: Lighting strips and signs are produced using a flexible, clear and transparent substrate that is a good dielectric, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Flexible metallic power bus traces are formed on at least one surface of the substrate, extending along opposite edges of the strip, or to define the shape of alphanumeric letters or graphic designs on a sign. Conductive traces electrically coupled to the flexible power bus traces are electrically connected to a plurality of light emitting devices, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs). The flexible, clear and transparent lighting strips or signs can then be mounted or hung on a window or in a display case and provide decorative lighting and illumination without obscuring objects, since light is transmitted through the substrate. The light emitted by the light sources can be white or selected to be of one or more other colors for enhanced visual and decorative effect.

Abstract: An elongated lens profile having reverse total internal reflection (TIR) features that improve light extraction when the lens is used in conjunction with a plurality of light emitters. Solid state light emitters, such as LEDs, are arranged proximate to the elongated lens along a longitudinal axis of the lens body. The emitters, which may be grouped in clusters, emit toward a receiving surface of the lens. The receiving surface includes a plurality of reverse TIR features, also disposed along the longitudinal axis. These features may be defined by a series of recessed areas spaced along the longitudinal axis to correspond with the light emitters which can protrude into the negative space created by the recessed features. The recessed features may have more than one shape. The reverse TIR features improve light output uniformity, reducing hot spots along the lens, and improve output efficiency.
