  • Patent number: 8585260
Abstract: An illumination device of the present invention is used for illuminating an environment, such as a house, a class room, and the like, wherein electricity is in high demand and not affordable to some extent. The illumination device includes at least two units. Each unit presents a male connector and a female connector to mate with one another as more light is required and disassembled from one another to reduce illumination of the environment. A bracket connected to each unit is movable about the unit for placing the unit on a surface, such as a floor, a wall, or a ceiling, and for positioning the unit relative to the environment to be illuminated. A pedal generator capable of attaching and simultaneously charging multiple battery-containing units makes the illumination device useful in areas where electricity is scarce. The illumination device is cost effective and easy to manufacture, transport, and assemble.

  • Patent number: 8506119
Abstract: Concepts for increasing brightness and uniformity and providing dimming for LED-illuminated signs and display are disclosed. Substantial increase in brightness is achieved via reducing the distance between LED modules and the sign or display they illuminate by placing the LEDs on a raised grid platform constructed with a plurality of intersecting plates. Whenever two plates intersect, a “grid-node” is formed, creating a plurality of intersections and grid nodes in a two-dimensional array. On each grid-node, two distinct and electrically isolated LED sub-modules are placed. By connecting all LED sub-modules parallel to one dimension (e.g., X-axis) in one series, and all LED sub-modules parallel to the other dimension (e.g., Y-axis) in another series, two electrically isolated LED series are created. Lighting up both series provide maximum brightness and good uniformity; lighting up only one series allows dimming for illuminated signs or displays without any drive current adjustment.

  • Patent number: 8449154
Abstract: A mount member (5) has a contact surface (27a) touching the bottom surface of an LED module (3) and protrusions (5a) protruding from the periphery of the contact surface (27a) in the thickness direction of the LED module (3) and regulating sliding motions thereof. A fixing member (6) made of a resilient, plate-like member comprises an opposing pair of flat portions (43) near the contact surface (27a) of the mount member (5) and flat tabs (44) projecting from the flat portions (43) toward the contact surface (27a) touching the upper surface of a substrate (17). The flat portions (43) of the fixing member (6) are fastened to be lower than the top surface of the substrate (17) of the LED module (3). Thus, elastically deformed areas extending from the fastened parts of the flat portions (43) through the flat tabs (44) press the substrate (17) into the mount member (5).
