Abstract: A lens includes a lens body having a bottom surface, a reflective surface, and a refractive surface. The bottom surface is to be disposed proximate to a light-emitting component. The reflective surface is disposed opposite to the bottom surface along a lens axis, and reflects a first portion of the light provided by the light-emitting component that is incident thereon toward the refractive surface. The refractive surface extends from an edge of the reflective surface to the bottom surface, and refracts a second portion of the light provided by the light-emitting component that is incident thereon as well as the first portion of the light reflected by the reflective surface theretoward in sideward directions relative to the light-emitting component. The lens body has cross-sections transverse to the lens axis, sizes of which increase gradually from a junction of the reflective surface and the refractive surface toward the bottom surface.

  • Patent number: 6971766
Abstract: An aperture lamp system that facilitates improved reliability and performance in a display system is provided. The aperture lamp system provides improved reliability by providing a second lamp coupled to a first lamp through a coupling aperture. When the first lamp fails, the second lamp can be used to provide illumination to the display. Specifically, light from the second lamp passes through the coupling aperture to the first lamp, where it can exit the first lamp and illuminate the display. Thus, by coupling the first and second lamps together through a coupling aperture, a lamp system is provided where either the first lamp or second lamp can be used to provide illumination for the display. Thus, the first and second lamps provide redundancy, with this redundancy used to improve the reliability of the display system.

The reflector collar has a predetermined contour and a plurality of reflector impressions formed into the predetermined contour. The predetermined contour and the plurality of reflector impressions provide directional illumination control for the optical assembly.

Abstract: The invention concerns an illuminating spotlight emitting a narrow beam. The spotlight has a highly concentrated light source and a concave reflector for emitting an illuminating beam in a specific direction, along an emitting axis. A converging lens is interposed between the source and the reflector and in a plane passing through a conical segment. The source is bordered laterally on the reflector side with a sector of the converging lens providing a virtual image of the source located beyond the emitting axis, on the side opposite that of the lens. The virtual image of the light source is formed at the focus of the conical segment locally defining the reflector.

Abstract: A lens mounted to a light emitting diode package internally redirects light within the lens so that a majority of light is emitted from the lens approximately perpendicular to a package axis of the light emitting diode package. In one embodiment, the light emitted by the light emitting diode package is refracted by a sawtooth portion of the lens and reflected by a total internal reflection portion of the lens.

  • Patent number: 6601980
Abstract: An infrared-ray radiating lamp which is prevented from being mistaken for a tail lamp or a stop lamp by ensuring that not only infrared rays but also visible rays are emanated from a front lens simultaneously. The lamp includes a lighting chamber defined by a lamp body and a front lens, a reflector disposed in the lighting chamber, and infrared-ray radiation means and visible-ray radiation means disposed in front of the reflector in the lighting chamber. The infrared rays radiated from the infrared-ray radiation means and the visible rays radiated from the visible-ray radiation means are emanated from the front lens simultaneously when the lamp is lit. Thus, the rays distributed by the lamp include both red infrared rays and white visible rays, and therefore a red color is not particularly noticeable. Thus, the infrared-ray radiating lamp when lit is not mistaken for a tail lamp or a stop lamp.

Abstract: The invention is related to a reflector lamp comprising a parabolic primary reflecting section, a parabolic or spheric secondary reflecting section joined to the primary reflecting section, a parabolic or spheric tertiary reflecting section joined to the secondary reflecting section, and an incandescent or discharge light source. The secondary and tertiary reflecting sections have faceted surfaces which longitudinally extend along the surface thereof so that most (at least 50%) or substantially all the light reflected by the faceted surfaces avoids the light source and thus the light, which would be absorbed or scattered by the light source, is minimized or substantially eliminated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a lamp reflecting apparatus for use in a direct under type backlight module, wherein the backlight module comprising a plurality of lamps, a diffusing plate and a bottom reflecting plate. The diffusing plate is located above the lamps while the bottom reflecting plate is deposited under the lamps. The lamp reflecting apparatus provided between the lamps and diffusing plate comprises a reflecting layer for use in reflecting light emitted from the lamps to the bottom reflecting plates. Light non-uniformity resulting from light directly emitted to the diffusing plate directly above the lamps and the thickness of the backlight module can be reduced. Besides, light efficiency is also increased. The present invention can be applied in different backlight modules by changing shapes and sizes of the light reflecting apparatus.
