Abstract: A table lamp comprises a base and an elongate head. The head has two elongate LED arrangements each extending along the length direction of the elongate head, each LED arrangement providing a light output pattern which is asymmetric and is generally directed to a respective lateral side of the elongate head. A beam-shaping lens structure is associated with the two LED arrangements. Each LED arrangement is independently controlled. Thus, separate LED arrangements are provided, one for left-handed use and one for right-handed use. This avoids the need for reconfiguration between left-handed and right-handed operation, and the lamp design is able to meet requirements of glare control, light uniformity, and blue light hazard control.

  • Patent number: 7993030
Abstract: A lighting system comprises a housing suitable for mounting to a structural unit. The housing includes a plurality of enclosure panels. At least two light-bearing members are moveable relative to the housing and are pivotally coupled one to another. A pair of actuators are moveable in opposing directions, one of the light-bearing members being coupled to one of the actuators and an other of the light-bearing members being coupled to an other of the actuators. Movement of the actuators relative to one another results in pivotal movement of the light-bearing members relative to one another, causing an end of each light-bearing member to move further from or closer to the housing.

  • Patent number: 7832904
Abstract: A system and a method for using ePaper as a light control media in lighting fixtures or other light enhanced applications to modify, dim or color-shift the light used for lighting the space. One system includes a light source, an ePaper reflector with controllable reflectivity for controlling the light reflected from the reflector and/or an ePaper baffle with controllable translucency for controlling the light through the baffle. The light incident on the ePaper media may include light from other sources such as natural light. One method compares desired lighting in a space to characteristics of the light source. Characteristics of the ePaper media are then adjusted to provide the desired amount of light to the objects under illumination. Reflectivity from walls and furniture may be controlled by applying ePaper to their surfaces. The light source and the ePaper media may be controlled simultaneously to control the lighting.
