  • Patent number: 6352357
Abstract: A method for furnishing a perceptor with apparently continuous illumination over an extended target area, in which at any instant only part of said area is illuminated, but every part thereof is intermittently and repeatedly illuminated by discontinuous flashes. • Patent number: 6280055
Abstract: An apparatus for integrating and modifying light output of strobe-based and continuous light sources. A light-modifier housing made to accept variety of commercially available lights typically used in photography lighting. The output of these lights is channeled in a uniform way for illuminating an area or subject to be photographed. Multiple light units can be mounted onto the modifier. A light, preferably the center one, can be removed and substituted with camera for shadowless lighting effect. With interchangeable adapter plates, different manufacturer's lights such as strobe lights or constant lights, are quickly mounted onto the modifier. Highly reflective paneling is used to line the inside surfaces as well as the inner side of the adjustable louvers (barndoors). These combination results in a system offering maximum, uniform, light output with high degree of controllability. • Patent number: 5944406
Abstract: A rotatable compartment light for vehicles is provided. A lens covering a light source is rotatably mounted to a panel of the vehicle. The lens defines at least two sections having different light passing characteristics. A first section is configured to pass light from the light source to form a spotlight. The lens is configured so that the spotlight may be directed to a desired area by rotating the lens. An adjusting mechanism is in operative communication with the lens and is configured to rotate the lens.

  • Patent number: 5934787
Abstract: A picture illuminating device for mounting on the wall above the picture, or on the back of the picture frame. The device utilizes a fluorescent light tube to produce uniform lighting and is powered by conventional or rechargeable batteries which eliminates the requirement of electrical outlets and the spectacle of exposed electrical cords extending down the wall. The device is composed of a stem and a shade. The shade houses the fluorescent light tube, batteries and the electronic circuit that converts the direct current from the batteries to the alternating current required to power the fluorescent light tube. The shade includes a reflector which is configured to mount the fluorescent light tube and batteries so that the shade covers the fluorescent light tube adequately to prevent any glare from the front while presenting the look of a conventional, corded picture lamp.

  • Patent number: 5918973
Abstract: A head lamp device of a vehicle comprising a passing beam lamp unit, a driving beam lamp unit, and optical fibers connecting them together. A discharge lamp serves as a light source of the passing beam lamp unit. A reflecting mirror disposed ahead of the discharge lamp reflects directly forwardly emitted light from the discharge lamp, and concentrates the light into a condensing portion. The optical fibers guide the light concentrated into the condensing portion to the driving beam lamp unit. The light guided by the optical fibers is used as a light source of the driving beam lamp unit. A shutter mechanism shuts off the light guided by the optical fibers at the time of switching to passing beam, and passes the light guided by the optical fibers at the time of switching to driving beam. The head lamp device using a discharge lamp as a light source completely eliminates the disadvantage of a discharge lamp type head lamp, a very high cost.

  • Patent number: 5915823
Abstract: A light distribution system for distributing beams at remote locations, light beams from a quasi point source includes means for collimating light from the source into a radial beam or beams, conveyance means carrying collimated beams to remote illumination directors for directing light from the light distribution system to a volume to be illuminated. Light loss due to changing the system from a first configuration, i.e. set of spatial location spatial locations of illumination directors, to a second configuration is substantially eliminated. Means are provided to manipulate light beams to control their diversion and continuity in response to movements from changing from the first configuration to the second.

  • Patent number: 5911498
Abstract: A cylindrical luminaire is provided whose components align easily, for quicker assembly, despite the lack of intrinsic preferred relative orientation in circular components. Circular end plates affixed in a desired alignment to the end of an elongated reflector have notches for alignment of a part-cylindrical cover and slots or pivotal brackets to receive a baffle. The reflector, cover and baffle are accordingly assembled in proper alignment. The baffle can be an optical baffle to alter the aesthetic appearance of the luminaire.

  • Patent number: 5691886
Abstract: A high intensity light projector for stage, architectural and similar applications includes a controllable image quality projection gate providing advanced visual effects. The projection gate, capable of selectively scattering or transmitting incident light, may be constructed of an array of scattering liquid crystal material in combination with infrared and ultraviolet reduction means which provide in the high intensity beam, a stable thermal environment by minimizing the absorption of light by the projection gate. Additional thermal efficiency is provided by supplemental cooling means. Color control is also provided in the form of dichroic filter wheels forming cooperating adjustable low, high and band width filters including saturation control. A color measuring feedback sensor is also provided. An intensity measuring feedback sensor controls a spatially-modulated, variable-density, reflectively-coated dimming wheel. A programmable gobo system has provisions for gobo selection, orientation, and rotation.
