  • Patent number: 8182116
Abstract: A recessed lighting fixture providing illumination from a light source including a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) placed within a cavity of a planar surface, such as a ceiling, wall, or shower. The fixture comprises a baffle integrated with a low profile heat sink that is used to draw heat out of the fixture and communicate that heat to a trim ring of the fixture for dissipation of the heat in the room so that higher intensity light sources can be used. Improved grounding of the recessed trim unit to the recessed housing is provided with combination support and grounding springs. One embodiment of the light source is fixed in position while a second embodiment is gimbal mounted for aiming the light produced by the fixture.

  • Patent number: 8182120
Abstract: A lighting fixture can dispose a light source in a recess of a ceiling or another surface while providing at least one of three adjustments that facilitates installation or post-installation setup. The first adjustment can support mounting the fixture to surfaces of differing thicknesses while maintaining the light source at a uniform recess depth. The second possible adjustment can facilitate rotating a visible portion of the fixture, typically an aperture or hole through which light transmits from the light source into a room or some other illuminated space. After the lighting fixture is attached to the ceiling, a user can rotate the aperture for alignment with another fixture or another object. The third possible adjustment can provide an illumination pattern that can be tilted to various angles or oriented in various directions according to user preference or to establish a desired lighting effect.

  • Patent number: 8162515
Abstract: A lighting device (10) for use within a light box or light panel and comprising a housing with generally parallel upper and lower walls (11, 12) and diverging side walls (13, 14) with one or more LEDs (18) disposed within the housing on a back wall (15) thus to project light outwardly from the housing. Several such devices may be disposed within a light box or light panel to project light across the latter which light is then diffused before exiting from a front display panel or the like. The diffused light conceals the lighting devices within the light box or light panel. Such devices are intended to replace conventional fluorescent or neon lighting tubes or tungsten lights to produce substantially uniform light distribution by diffusion within the light box or light panel and incorporating low voltage and low power consuming light sources.
