  • Patent number: 7494256
Abstract: A vehicle instrument cluster for indicating a value of a vehicle parameter. The vehicle instrument cluster includes a display member formed of a transparent material and display segments integrally formed within the display member. The display segments are configured to diffuse light and the display segments form at least a portion of indicia associated with the vehicle parameter. A first illumination system has a light source and a motor connected to an optical member. The optical member is movable in response to a change in the value of the vehicle parameter. The optical member selectively directs the light from the light source to within the display member to illuminate at least a portion of the display segments that form the indicia to indicate the value of the vehicle parameter.

  • Patent number: 7413330
Abstract: A proposed backlight is suitable for a large size liquid crystal display. A backlight 2 for illuminating a liquid crystal panel 3 from the rear, is formed by combining a plurality of backlight units 10, 10, . . . By providing a transparent acrylic board 4 between the backlight 2 and the liquid crystal panel 3, it becomes possible to prevent brightness unevenness from occurring at a junction section of the backlight units 10, 10, . . . , even when the backlight is formed by combining the plurality of the backlight units 10, 10, . . . .

  • Patent number: 6161951
Abstract: A vehicular headlamp including a discharge bulb which allows mounting of a lighting circuit case to a lamp body using a simple and inexpensive structure and which allows for easy removal of the lighting circuit case therefrom. Because it is disposed within the lamp body, the lighting circuit case need not have a full waterproof structure, and thus it can be formed as a simple, light-weight and inexpensive structure. The lamp body is composed of a main body having an opening and a cover for closing the opening. A mounting portion for the lighting circuit case is formed at a position closely adjacent the opening of the main body of the lamp body. As a result, the lighting circuit case can be easily removed through the opening.
