Abstract: A speaker device for attachment to a rear hub of the speaker basket of an automobile speaker including a cover member for being placed over the periphery of the rear hub of the automobile speaker and a peripheral attachment included in the cover member for receiving an outer periphery of the rear hub. An engaging element carried by the peripheral attachment engages the rear hub retaining the cover member with the rear hub. A light source carried by the cover member is in electrical connection with the leading ground wires of the speaker for illuminating when the automobile speaker is operating.

Abstract: A novelty candy holding device in combination with a sound making device and a light device. The device includes a housing including a switch controlled power source which operates an integrated circuit that produces different sounds via a speaker connected to the integrated circuit. A light is secured to the speaker circuit so that the light flashes as the speaker makes different sounds. A candy sucker is secured to the upper end of the housing for consumption as the speaker makes different sounds in accordance with operation of different switches.

Abstract: An illuminated control panel typically for an audio device used in an automobile. The control panel includes a front panel made of a light conducting material through which push buttons and switches extend. A light conducting diffuser extends over a substantial portion of the rear surface of the front panel. The light conducting diffuser contains a plurality of sources of light which produce a generally uniform distribution of light throughout the light conducting diffuser. The illuminated light conducting diffuser back lights the entire area of the front panel, thereby increasing the general illumination of the control panel and facilitating the location and identity of the push buttons and switches. The front panel is preferably colored to improve its general appeal and appearance. In an alternative embodiment, the control panel includes one or more trim plates that are attachable to the front panel and may be used and exchanged at the choice of the user.

Abstract: The present invention provides a housing for an emergency light source which is electrically connectable to a conventional light switch. The housing replaces a conventional switch plate and has at least one opening for receiving the switch actuator of the light switch. The replacement housing includes wires for electrical connection to the light switch and is divided into upper and lower housing sections, wherein the upper section includes a battery compartment, a printed circuit board compartment, and an opening to receive the switch actuator. The lower housing section includes a compartment for receiving a compact fluorescent lamp, reflectors, and a diffuser cover.

Abstract: A portable cassette tape illuminator is disclosed having a small light which is meant to be attached to items used in the dark such as a cassette tape player. The portable cassette tape illuminator consists of a small light bulb, small battery, electronic circuitry, two thin wires and a "touch" on/off switch. To utilize it in a cassette tape player, place the bulb end into the left side of the cassette tap receptacle and string the wires up to the player control buttons where it may be looped. When light is needed to change a tape, touch the on/off switch. The portable cassette tape illuminator also provides light for intricate areas of the tape player for cleaning.

Abstract: A simulated wood burning sound system, including an electronic circuit that provides the "crackle" sound of a combustible wood fire. The system includes a programmed electronic sound chip that stores a recorded memory of wood burning sound. A volume control potentiometer adjusts the audio volume of the sound being transmitted through a speaker and is adjustable to simulate a range of sound effects from a quite fire to a roaring fire. A temperature sensitive sensor for detecting heat or a light sensitive sensor controls automatic startup and shutdown. In addition, a power switch has a permanent "on" position for testing the unit and for applications, such as a simulated fire, where a sensor is not applicable. A plastic housing protects the circuitry and provides a mounting base.

Abstract: A structurally improved detachable front panel for car stereos is disclosed. The panel is detachably mounted to the fixed main body of a car stereo and has an improved structure suitable to make the panel be selectively used as an emergency lamp. The panel has lighting means, switching means for turning on or off the lighting means, and power supplying means for supplying electric power for the lighting means. A panel casing receives the front panel separated from the stereo's main body and has a means for directly operating the switching means of the panel at the outside of the casing so as to turn on or off the lighting means when using the panel as a lamp.

Abstract: A food covering system resembling a decorated cake includes a cover with receptacles for holding and providing power to illuminating decorations and/or moving decorations, including electronic candles. In response to a breath sensor sensing a predetermined level of air movement, power to the electronic candles is turned off and secondary illuminating decorations, such as letters arranged in a birthday message, are turned on. In addition to the secondary decorations, music or other sounds may be issued from a speaker embedded in the food cover. The secondary decorations and/or music may be turned on for a predetermined time. Alternatively, the secondary decorations and/or music are on with the electronic candles and remain on, after the candles are "blown out", for a predetermined time.

The usefulness of the illuminated casings is found at the added ease of finding certain materials in adverse lighting conditions; yet, is equally useful in drawing increased attention to a particular compact disc or magnetic tape cassette and the like, in which someone wishes to gain increased exposure thereof. The illuminated casings will therefore enable the music groups insignia, title, group name and the like to be seen and just enjoyed in shaded and dim areas.

Abstract: A non-polluting firecracker device having a plurality of firecracker units in a manner that each two form one set respectively strung on a major power lead, whose upper end extends into a control box where it connects with the sound-and-light circuit of a PC board thereof. Each firecracker unit consists of a firecracker-shaped casing through which light can penetrate and a small flash bulb in it. As the circuit is energized, there will be continued firecracker bursting sounds and, in the meantime, flashes sent out from bottom to top in an orderly, repeated way. This way, the same effects of letting off firecrackers are obtained but without generating trash and noxious gases. In addition, it may be used repeatedly to save money.

Abstract: There is provided a vehicular after market accessory suitable for replacing the original equipment cover for an audio speaker. The accessory customizes the vehicular audio system by the addition of lights. Lighting means are disposed in a series of discrete locations about the circumference of the pre-existing audio speaker, each of which are in electrical communication with a circuit designed to illuminate said means in sequence to create the effect of light moving about the circumference of the speaker. The circuit design is independent of audio output, and is such that two individual lighting means on opposite sides of the circumference are illuminated at any moment in time and are extinguished as the next lighting means adjoining them are illuminated, thereby creating the effect of two lights rotating about the circumference of the speaker directly opposite each other and in the same direciton. Each of the lights appear to chase each other.

Abstract: An animated night-light and music-box combination comprises a housing, a pull-cord-type drive assembly mounted in the housing, a rotatable display disc having visual display thereon driven by the drive assembly and mounted in the housing, a music-box assembly driven by the drive assembly and mounted in the housing and a lighting assembly mounted in the housing. The combination device is operable by pulling a pull cord of the drive assembly to withdraw the pull cord from the housing and then releasing the pull cord to actuate the drive assembly. Upon actuation of the drive assembly, the display disc is rotated to animate the display thereon and the music-box assembly is actuated to produce music which accompanies the animated display. The lighting assembly is actuated to illuminate the animated display whenever the pull cord is withdrawn from the housing, and it is manually actuatable when the pull cord is recoiled in the housing on the drive assembly.

Abstract: Improvements to visual display units for producing aesthetically pleasing abstract lighting effects which employ light baffles to produce compartments which contain at least three light sources of different colors are disclosed. The benefits of a baffle arrangement defining compartments forming isoceles triangles with adjacent hypotenuses is described. Color range and fidelity are improved by employing four light sources with a combination of relatively broadband pigmented filters of red, yellow, and green and a relatively narrowband interference-type filter of blue. Improvements to the control system for visual display units of this type are also disclosed. A memory means if provided to record desired color values for each compartment in each of a number of patterns. A single arbitrary color number and a separate intensity value are recorded and at least one conversion table is employed to convert the color number and intensity to average power levels for the sources in the display.

A strobe circuit interconnects the source of power and the circuit for periodically activating the circuit which, therefore, draws power for only a small fraction of the time.

A plurality of reflecting part-spherical domes and pyramidal-like projections are arranged on the rear panel and are configurated to reflect at least some of the impinging light rays back to the globe for subsequent reflection therefrom. The light rays reflected off the globe, domes and projections are projected about the room in which the system is located in a very dense pattern of reflected differently colored images. A stereo music system is mounted on the cabinet to combine a discotheque sound effect with the above-described lighting effect.
