Patent number: 9136777Abstract: A power supply system (200) is provided which comprises a first input (206), an output (218), a DC-DC converter (204), a rectifying circuit (212) and a voltage limiter (214). An AC voltage is received by the first input. Power is supplied to a load (216) via the output. The DC-DC converter comprises a second input (203) which is capacitively coupled to the first input, and the DC-DC converter provides power to the output. The rectifying circuit is capacitively coupled to the first input and is arranged between the first input and the output. The rectifying circuit provides a rectified output voltage to the output. The voltage limiter is coupled to the output and limits the rectified voltage to a predefined voltage.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2011Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.Inventors: Wilhelmus Ettes, Ronald Van Langevelde, Hugo Veenstra, Franciscus Adrianus Cornelis Maria Schoofs

Patent number: 8698584Abstract: An integrated magnetic device for low harmonics three-phase front-end (1) comprising three magnetic sub-assemblies (30), wherein each magnetic sub-assembly (30) comprises a magnetic core without air-gaps, three or more wound limbs and at least five windings, three current inputs connectable to a three-phase power grid (100), at least nine current outputs, three for each current inputs, said current outputs being galvanically connected to said three current inputs and connectable to a load (200). The integrated magnetic device is designed for a low harmonics three-phase bidirectional front-end and also for AC/DC rectifier and DC/AC power inverters. Its use enables reduction of the harmonics of the currents absorbed or injected to three-phase power line by using only one device which integrates a splitter and an inductor function. Compared to known solutions, cost, material and dimensions of the integrated magnetic device are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Schaffner EMV AGInventor: Andrzej Pietkiewicz

Patent number: 5184288Abstract: A power rectifying circuit (10) for converting an AC power signal to DC which includes a plurality of rectifiers (20) that receive power from a single AC power source (12). The AC power signal is power split amongst the plurality of rectifiers (20). Each power split signal is phase shifted by an incremental amount of phase shift and provided to on of the rectifiers (20). The rectified DC output of each rectifier is summed together and provided to a load (22) as DC power.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1991Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Assignee: Hughes Aircraft CompanyInventors: Robert D. Patent number: 4908744Abstract: Three-phase power-conversion wherein the frequency output voltage is independent of the frequency of input voltage. One of three input terminals in a load powered by the apparatus is directly grounded. Each of the other two input terminals is supplied a sinusoidal voltage artifact from an appropriate transform circuit which is driven by a microprocessor, with one of these artifacts having a form 1.73.alpha.SinA, and the other having the form of 1.73.alpha.Sin(A+60.degree.), where .alpha. is the nominal amplitude of the source voltage and the Expressions A and (A+60.degree.) are the respective phase angles. Operation of the microprocessor controls output frequency.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1989Date of Patent: March 13, 1990Assignee: APC-Onsite, Inc.Inventor: Theodore G. Hollinger

Patent number: 4899268Abstract: Apparatus for supplying from a single-phase, known-frequency AC source, three-phase AC power at the same frequency. The apparatus features circuitry which employs high-speed power switching with respect to only one phase of a three-phase load, with the result that only two high-speed power-switching devices (transistors) are required.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1989Date of Patent: February 6, 1990Assignee: APC-Onsite, Inc.Inventor: Theodore G. Patent number: 4316125Abstract: First and second rectifiers (37), (41) have inputs connected to an A.C. power source (12) through a unitary switch (33) and outputs connected to first and second smoothing filters (38), (42) respectively. An inductance (39) is connected between the switch (33) and the first rectifier (37) whereas a capacitance (43) is connected between the switch (33) and the second rectifier (41). The values of the inductance (39) and capacitance (43) are selected in such a manner that surge currents through the capacitance (43) and inductance (39) occuring when the switch (33) is closed are limited and the power factor of the power supply (31) is maximized.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1979Date of Patent: February 16, 1982Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Koichi Noguchi

Patent number: 4181931Abstract: A two-phase control system for sequential switching of a.c. power. An a.c. nput is split into two phases. The two phases are switched simultaneously or independently by a plurality of switches in sequence. The output from the switches is recombined to provide the original a.c. signal at a desired voltage level.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1977Date of Patent: January 1, 1980Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventor: Dale L.
