  • Patent number: 4548508
Abstract: The present invention concerns an ice cream machine for home use. The ice cream machine of the invention having a mixing auger and a mixing cone uses a unique drive system to vertically drive the cone to engage the auger and mix the products contained within the cone. An arc gear, pinion gear and a rack gear are provided in the drive train of the invention and are intermeshed with each other and interconnected with a manually operable lever arm to accomplish the desired vertical drive of the mixing cone. This configuration allows increased leverage and efficiency in the vertical drive movement. Also provided herein are various size reduction and easy cleaning features. Finally the unique gear drive train allows for a steady extrusion of a deliciously mixed, flavored ice cream or ice milk product.

  • Patent number: 4486102
Abstract: A mixing head for multicomponent plastics, especially polyurethane, in whose mixing chamber (2) a hollow piston (7) can be moved to and fro to control the component streams. The hollow piston contains an expulsion piston (8), which is movable independently of the hollow piston, and which can be passed through an outlet tube (3) which adjoins the outlet orifice (4). The end face (12) of the hollow piston forms, together with the mixing chamber wall (11) nearest the sprue, a shearing gap in which the components are mixed. As a result of the design and arrangement of the pistons (7) and (8), good mixing is achievable even under critical conditions, and the mixing chamber is also easily cleaned.

  • Patent number: 4460277
Abstract: Apparatus for processing synthetic thermoplastic material comprises a receiver having a vertical axis, a disintegrating and mixing tool which is disposed in the receiver near the bottom thereof and rotatable about the axis of the receiver, and at least one screw extruder, which extends through an opening in the shell of the receiver into the latter adjacent to the disintegrating and mixing tool. To ensure that the screw extruder can be filled uniformly and that such filling will be independent in a high degree from the level to which the receiver is filled, the screw extruder extends at least approximately radially of the axis of the receiver and that end of the screw extruder which extends into the receiver is axially spaced above the disintegrating and mixing tool.

  • Patent number: 4449826
Abstract: The percentage of entrapped air in mortar, plaster, concrete or a like building material which is prepared on a continuous basis is increased, preferably by at least 100 percent, by providing a mixing chamber with one or more barriers which oppose the progress of a mixture of solid and liquid constituents toward the outlet so that each increment of the mixture dwells in the mixing chamber for a relatively long interval of time which exceeds 15 seconds and can even exceed 40 or 50 seconds. The mixing chamber defines a sump for a supply of the mixture, and the rate at which the material leaves the chamber equals or approximates the rate of admission of constituents into the chamber so that the quantity of material which forms the supply is constant. Such supply is agitated by blades, paddles, vanes, grates, lattices or like devices to ensure continuous penetration of air into the material which dwells in, as well as the material which advances through, the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4316671
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing solid particles and a liquid, especially wood chips and glue. A motor-driven stirrer in a cylinderical trough continuously mixes the materials which enter at one end of the trough and are discharged at the other end. The outlet of the trough has a pivotable throttle with a counterweight which controls the degree of opening of the throttle. An electrical signal related to the load on the stirrer motor is the control signal for a control loop whose final control element displaces the counterweight to maintain the electrical load of the drive motor approximately constant.

  • Patent number: 4222520
Abstract: A framework mounted on wheels to follow a ditch path carries a plurality of siphon tubes suspended at their outer end from an arm pivotable in response to a float detecting the water level in the ditch, and the inner end of the tubes contain water impeller blades mounted on a common shaft through all tube heads, retaining the heads in submerged position in the ditch. The structure supporting the outer tube ends is spring biased to raise the tubes, and each tube has a flexible mid-portion and a water trap in the outer end. A silt remover agitator is mounted on a longitudinal track and powered to move between the opposite ends of the framework to entrain silt in the water for removal by the siphon tubes. A wheel trash remover at the upstream end of the framework is self-powered by the current to catch and eject debris from the ditch water, and a dam at the downstream end of the framework retains the ditch water under the framework.
