Simultaneously, mixing material around or adjacent an outer agitator is urged downward and inward by rotating the outer agitator in the opposite direction. • Patent number: 4655701
Abstract: A granulating apparatus particularly adapted for advanced ceramic materials having a granulation vessel with a cylindrical main body in which are coaxially-mounted rotatably an annular cage-like stirring rotor having peripheral stirring blades and a central impulse rotor having impulse blades and pins. The stirring blades are mounted in diverging pairs relative to their rotational direction to channel charge material axially centrally within the container, while the impulse blades are V-shaped convergingly in their rotational direction to impel charge material both radially and axially outwardly within the vessel, for enhanced charge material circulation. Nozzles mounted on the end cover of the vessel inject agglomerating liquid axially into the open granulation area between the rotors for direct impingement of liquid essentially only onto the charge material.

  • Patent number: 4475820
Abstract: Flexible shafting has an outer flexible shaft with a hollow central bore for receiving an electrically insulating flexible tube which, in turn, receives an inner flexible shaft therein. The outer and inner flexible shafts are capable of rotating independently of each other while simultaneously transmitting an electric current.

  • Patent number: 4289733
Abstract: An apparatus for producing silver halide grains of a uniform size wherein the apparatus comprises a mixing chamber comprising a casing of a polygonal-pillar shape within a reaction vessel filled with an aqueous colloid solution in such a manner that the interior of the mixing-chamber is filled with the aqueous colloid solution, where a water soluble silver salt solution and a water soluble halide solution are supplied by way of conduits to the lower end of the mixing chamber to dilute the solution with the aqueous colloidal solution contained in the mixing chamber, first agitation means disposed in the mixing chamber for rapidly agitating to mix and react both reaction liquids to form silver halide grains, and a second agitation means for immediately discharging the silver halide grains into the reaction vessel to ripen the silver halide grains outside of the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4232973
Abstract: To continuously mix two flowable products such as a solid product in the divided state and a liquid product, two concentric ducts are provided each with associated entraining means. The entraining means of the outer duct serves to move a first one of the flowable products along the duct from an entry port towards an exit port for the mixed products and includes a helical element urging the first product into rotation in passage along the outer duct. The second duct opens into the outer duct between the entry and exit ports of that duct and the entraining means of the inner duct serves to move the second flowable product through the inner duct and into the outer duct in the center of the first product stream.

  • Patent number: 4197019
Abstract: A mixing machine for dispersing finely divided solid particles in a liquid vehicle including a pair of co-axially extending shafts with an impeller disposed on the end of each shaft, said shafts being separately driven by a pair of variable speed drive motors, one of the impellers being a relatively smaller high speed impeller and the other of said impellers being a relatively larger low speed impeller. The high speed impeller is disposed adjacent to and in co-axial relationship with the low speed impeller with the radial spacing between the periphery of the high speed impeller and internal wall portions formed on the low speed impeller being extremely small whereby a shearing action is imparted to agglomerates being processed in the mixture as they pass through the space between the periphery of the high speed impeller and the wall portions on the low speed impeller.

  • Patent number: 4194844
Abstract: Apparatus for receiving and conveying a plurality of different powders simultaneously and delivering the powders continuously as a blended mix, in which a number of concentric tubes define annular bores carrying helical screw members driven at one end for axial rotation. At the delivery end the tubes are progressively inset from the outermost tube to the innermost tube. A core in the innermost tube defines the annular bore therein and is expanded diametrically at the delivery end of each tube to extend the annular bore to the end of that tube with the pitch of the helical screw member of that tube being increased over the expanded portion of the core to the end of the tube. Preferably the tubes, the helical screw members and the bore are laterally flexible.

  • Patent number: 4190371
Abstract: An apparatus for discontinuous mixing of substances, one of which is a liquid and especially suitable for the mixing of thixotropic materials. The mixer has a high speed rotor which cooperates with a more slowly rotating stator. Both rotor and stator are provided with teeth disposed on mutually concentric circles. When the teeth move past one another, shearing slots are formed. The drive shaft carrying the stator also carries at least one radially extending arm on which is mounted a wall scraper whose angle of attack with respect to the wall may be changed by rotation about an internal axis.
